Diana Lee’s passion for education and board service stems from childhood. “Coming from a first-generation immigrant family, I knew that I always wanted to give back both professionally and personally to this cause,” she says.
Lee served as the president of the Kellogg Board Fellows program for the class of 2006. As a core part of her social impact experience at Kellogg, she worked with The Field Museum, a prominent nonprofit board in downtown Chicago. Today, that experience has helped her to serve on several education-focused governing boards.
“I always knew I would want to join a nonprofit board after Kellogg. KBF allowed me to better know what to expect when looking for a board to join and gave me more familiarity, comfort and curiosity in whatever future boards I was going to pursue,” says Lee.
Lee cites the program as an experience that gave her a front-row seat to the expectations that board members have of their leaders. She has stayed in the education space at Teach For America, where she currently serves as the chief communities officer.
“Working in educational equity for more than a decade now after leaving the corporate world has only reinforced that this is the right place for me to be - now and for the long term,” she says.
