Dean’s Advisory Board chairman speaks to the importance of innovation and global markets


5/3/2010 - Miles D. White, chairman and CEO of Abbott, addressed more than 120 Kellogg alumni attending the 2010 BIO International Convention on May 4 in Chicago.

The breakfast, hosted by Interim Kellogg Dean Sunil Chopra, was held at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. White spoke to the importance of global markets, as well as the growing costs of seeding new ideas and the role larger corporations can play in mining innovation. He also talked about Kellogg’s social enterprise efforts and how Kellogg strives to strike a balance between enterprise and good citizenship.

Following the private Kellogg alumni breakfast, White, the conference’s co-chair, joined Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, Wisconsin’s Governor Jim Doyle and other dignitaries to cut the ribbon opening the convention to the global biotech community. This was the second time that BIO, the largest international conference of the global biotech community, was held in Chicago.

White serves as a Northwestern University trustee, chairman of the Kellogg School’s Dean’s Advisory Board and member of Kellogg’s Campaign Steering Committee.
