“Filling the Governance Gap: Aligning Enterprise and Advocacy” is jointly sponsored by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program. The conference is the second major event hosted by the Kellogg Public-Private Initiative (KPPI), directed by Daniel Diermeier, IBM Professor of Regulation and Competitive Practice, and Director of the Ford Motor Company Center for Global Citizenship.
KPPI synthesizes Kellogg's and Northwestern University's thought leadership on issues at the boundary between the public and private spheres of the global economy.
Thought Leadership at Kellogg
Global health, aging populations, and investment in infrastructure and human capital present daunting challenges in the best of times. But in the 21st century, while national governments are overburdened with debt or stymied by political gridlock, there are few global institutions that can address these problems.
As a consequence, private sector leaders find themselves stepping into new and unfamiliar roles in which they must collaborate across economic and political boundaries not only for private gain, but also for the public good.
The Kellogg Public-Private Initiative is committed to producing cutting-edge research — the practical knowledge that business leaders need to build strong organizations that will meet these challenges.
KPPI is also a platform for perspectives and commentary that are accessible outside the confines of academia. We expect that the initiative’s work will engage leaders across the public and nonprofit sectors — including government, NGOs, and activists — across all ideological boundaries. The Kellogg-Aspen Conference enables that discussion.
