Summer 2011 has come and gone. With everyone’s busy schedules and many career moves, it’s not a wonder the last three months felt like three days. We’ve had a number of career moves recently. Here are just a few we know.

Under the headline “Advancement Within the Same Company,” three of our colleagues continue to climb their respective corporate ladders. Alan Burack is now head of business development for Advocate Condell Medical Center, a member of the Advocate Healthcare System. With his new role, he still has time to keep all of us connected. Meanwhile, Janine Nyre was promoted to VP of radio frequency combat and information systems at Northrop Grumman. And since joining Sara Lee going on a few years now, Daryl Gormley has taken on yet another new role as general manager of Hillshire Farm, but will keep his office in Downers Grove, Ill.

Under the headline “Career Moves to a New Company,” some of our colleagues have also been very busy. Elias Sfeir is president for Equifax Brazil, a recent expansion to South America by this credit reporting and collection services company. Paul Nelson is director of risk management for Blimling and Associates, a leader in dairy consulting focused on market insight training, risk management and customized intelligence. Paul is heading their Chicago office. Melissa Siebert is a partner at K&L Gates LLP, a law firm headquartered in Pittsburg, Pa., with offices in Chicago. And in another major career change, Ro Kumar decided to leave the computers to the techs and crossed over to the business side as CEO of Digital Aisle Interactive Solutions, an interactive marketing company in Chicago providing leading edge solutions to the consumer products and retail industries.

On a personal note, Jose Martinez and his wife Kamala celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in Maui on July 27. Their son Christian (14), a freshman in high school, was also there among other friends to witness the newly “re-weds.”

On community relations, our own Nizar Jiwani was quoted in the Sept. 8 issue of the Naperville Sun for his volunteer work with the Naperville Interfaith Leader Association (NILA). This organization promotes embracing and celebrating cultural and faith diversity in any community. In collaboration with the Charter for Compassion, an organization that advocates the “golden rule” — do unto others as you would have them do unto you — Nizar and NILA honored and remembered those lost during the tragedy of 9/11.

At a recent mission trip to Jalapa, Guatemala, Dr. Susan Nedza was joined by her husband Dr. Oswaldo Lastres and daughter Gabriela. Everyone had an important role to play starting with her daughter who went as a translator and dental assistant and even helped out during surgery. Her husband and other members of the medical team did almost 100 surgeries and examined 2,500 patients during a five-day stay. Sue extends her appreciation to Dr. Chopra whose teachings she applied in the peri-operative unit.
