Larry Kosinski EMP-38 with new granddaughter, Amelia |
|
Some happy news to report from EMP-38. Our good friend Larry Kosinski is a grandfather. Larry comments, “The fabulous addition to my life is Amelia Rose Sell, my granddaughter.”
Susan Amato relocated to beautiful Black Mountain, N.C., just outside of Ashville. Susan is settling in after having work done on the house and has also added a new family member — a beautiful brown lab, Frankie.
Kevin Garton provides an update on his professional life: “Life in Philly continues to be fun and entertaining. All is well at The Neat Company. In addition to helping the world become paperless, I joined the board of directors of Lifebooker LLC, an internet startup in the daily deal space with a mission to help women get great deals on health and beauty services. I also joined Edison Ventures, a Mid-Atlantic venture capital firm director network where I assist with due diligence on potential investments.”
We now have a few EMP-38 classmates living in the Philadelphia area. Kevin Garton and Mike Odell were able to get together. Mike’s company, Pep Boys, has added 10 new locations to Chicago.
In a previous update, Steve Calk reported that his company was in the process of buying The Federal Savings Bank in Overland Park, Kansas. In a recent Kansas City Journal article, reporter James Dornbrook wrote, “With a renewed focus on mortgage lending, management sees plenty of opportunity for growth.” Steve is very excited about the future opportunities.
I have had the good fortune of seeing several EMPers in the last month. Mike Smith, Julie and Mike Shelton and I had dinner a few weeks ago. Then last week, Mike Shelton, Ed “Mick” Phillippi and Tom Schwingbeck met for beer and Paul Campbell EMP-44 joined the group.
Once again, thanks to those of you who gave a shout out just so I know my emails are landing. If you know people who are not getting these emails but would like to receive them, please have them update their information in the Kellogg Alumni Directory at alumni.kellogg.northwestern.edu.
