EMP-24
A message from your class rep: Reunion alert! Believe it or not, our 20th is coming up in April 2012 and I would like to take a tally on how many of you plan to attend and who would be willing to volunteer for the planning committee. It would be great to see a big turnout so please let me (Eileen) know. Thanks much.
Bruce Kramer and wife Beverly celebrated their 23rd anniversary on April 16. They are both working full time in their “mom & pop” sports photography business (photoventuresinc.com) in Atlanta, where they have been since leaving Chicago in 1996. Oldest son Daniel (born in 1991) is now a junior at UGA studying journalism/communications; interned for ESPN radio last summer and co-hosted his own sports talk radio show last semester. Matthew (17) started at GSU this fall. James (15) is a high school sophomore, playing in marching band and planning to be a chef. Jon (9) just won double Little League baseball championships and is looking forward to football season.
Jeannie Thompson and husband Jack returned to Boulder, Colo., from Evanston more than eight years ago. In her first five years in Colorado, Jeannie continued her career as a consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison, having transferred from the Chicago office to the Denver operation. Upon arriving in Boulder, she became very involved with her undergraduate alma mater, the University of Colorado, joining the CU Foundation Board of Directors, where she serves as immediate past chair, as well as several college and school boards of the Boulder campus. The university has recently undertaken the public phase of a $1.5 billion comprehensive campaign involving all four campuses. Jeannie and Jack have been named the campaign chairs for the Boulder initiative which is anticipated to take around four years to complete. Jeannie and Jack are pleased to have their son, daughter-in-law and two “cutest ever” grandkids nearby, Jack (4) and Bella (3). Jeannie’s email is jeant@earthlink.net, please be in touch.
Greetings from Joe Feldman who gives best wishes to all fellow EMP-24ers! Joe writes: “I’m now in my third year of business development consulting and things are going very well. Last year was my best ever, featuring a major acquisition project for World Kitchen (marketers of Pyrex, Corelle and other kitchen brands) during which I led the deal to purchase Snapware Corporation. Jan and I celebrated our 20th anniversary last year, and took a wonderful celebratory trip to Blackberry Farm Inn in the Smokey Mountains. Son Henry is finishing up his junior year at New Trier, and doing all that juniors do (for good or not). He’s had a great year and is looking forward to the final stretch. Daughter Alice just finished her first year at Lake Forest Country Day School. Her commute is a bit longer, but the school is a much better fit for her and she’s met lots of new friends. I look forward to our reunion next year and hope to see you then.”
Vaughn Gordy writes: “On June 29, I had bilateral total knee replacements done at Northwestern University Hospital by Dr. David Stulberg. Following a week of rest and three weeks of in-residence physical therapy, I was able to return to work and on the weekend to get out and play 18 holes of golf. I now work with a rehab center for ongoing physical therapy but it is all going very well. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Stulberg, his team and the physical therapists who got me up and moving. I feel like a new man.”
