Congrats to Damian Yu who was featured on two episodes of Jeopardy in July. He won two games.
Adam Caplan, founder and CEO of Model Metrics was named to the TechWeek 100, a list of the 100 most innovative people in Chicago technology.
Luca Cravero visited Hagai Barlev during his vacation to his home country of Israel.
On July 16, Brian Daly and Emy Santiago were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland, Ore. Several fellow Kellogg alumni headed to the Pacific Northwest for a weekend of reunion, celebration, wine country and an opportunity to explore the city’s food and music scene. After a relaxing honeymoon in Sunriver, followed by an adventurous week of sailing along the Dalmatian Coast with Jean Noel Poirier and wife Betsy, the newlyweds settled in together in San Francisco where Brian does battle for Levi Strauss. Rob McClung, Gwen Jones Sheridan, Bridget Cooley, Matt Dober, Jean Noel Poirier and Edgar Ejercito joined in the wedding celebrations.
Last year, Clarissa Lourenco moved with her family to Brazil after living and working in the Netherlands for five years. Her kids Beatriz (5) and Elisa (2), both born in Amsterdam, are now enjoying a full immersion into Brazilian culture. She comments, “It is great to be back home, but we also miss the wonderful things of Dutch life.”
From Jonathan Glaser: “All was going well for Alisha and I and our two kids, Leah (9) and Sophie (7) when I got an opportunity at my firm, Hartford Financial Services Group, to join our Japan unit and head up the development and implementation of the unit’s hedging program and investment strategy. Even though we had a great three years in West Hartford, Conn., the Tokyo position was a nice move and we saw the opportunity for an adventure in a fascinating country. So we dove in. As I write this, we have been in Tokyo for almost four weeks and loving it. The girls are going to American School in Japan. Alisha and I are learning about life in Japan and taking in the food, culture and customs. It’s a very different life. We have signed up with my firm for at least two years, so drop us a line if you ever come to Japan (or if you live here as my GIM Japan friends likely do).” You can reach Jonathan at jonathan_glaser@yahoo.com.
Bendee Anzures welcomed Alaina Deane Gourley into the world on Aug. 4. Alaina so far seems to have the lungs of her mother (waking up the whole neighborhood), the good nature of her father (smiling a lot in her sleep), and thankfully, the sleepiness/great napping abilities of both.
