2005

Hi Class of 2005,

I hope you all had a fantastic summer! We’ve got lots of great news to share about the Class of 2005 in this update. Enjoy the fall and the rapidly approaching holiday season!

Take care, Karianne

Russell Baker and wife Mary welcomed their second child, Burke McAllister Baker, on July 28. Burke was 7 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 inches long. He joins sister Abigail (4). Russell and Mary are enjoying life down south in Atlanta. After several years in brand management at Coke, Russell recently made a transition into the world of shopper marketing, where he works as a director of Coke’s convenience, drug and value channel businesses.

Patrick Lortie and family welcomed Olivia on Jan. 26.

Christine T (Turcuato) Gutierrez and family welcomed baby Gunnar Cole on June 21.

Gary Dulaney, Greg Benz and Rachel Goldstein went on another crazy travel adventure to Alaska this summer.

From Scott Pollard: “I finally have news to report. After five years at Black & Decker (six if you count my internship), I have left the world of power tools to join the world of small appliances. In October, I started at Groupe SEB, a French company that is the world leader in small domestic equipment and cookware, but is relatively unknown in the U.S. Its major brands are T-Fal, All-Clad, and Krupps, amongst others, and I will be managing the Rowenta steam iron portfolio. The office is in West Orange, N.J., and my wife and I will be relocating there over the coming months and look forward to connecting with local classmates.”

Nate Chandrasekaran writes, “Tanvi Patel and I had a son, Adaiyan Patel Chandrasekaran! He is a happy little guy! We are still living in New York City. I’m at a small private equity firm and Tanvi works at MTV. We see a number of Kellogg classmates in the city — Chris Vance and I are teaching Adaiyan how to play basketball! Always looking forward to seeing more Kellogg friends.”

Roy Katz moved from a big corporation in Minneapolis to the start-up world in Boston and took a role as marketing director at Rhythmia Medical.

Nathaniel Malka writes, “On July 11, I went to my second World Cup final (I was also at the final in Japan in 2002). Ben Chittick, Geoff Carroll and Javier Nogales were also at the Cup over the summer, but our paths were different since we had different match tickets.”

Kellogg alumni reunited at Andre Do Valle’s wedding this year. Attendees included Federico Bugallo, Jan Ramberg, Ricardo Cilloniz, Jorge Gonzalez and Sameer Schoff.

From Arnaud Violland: “Stéphanie and I have great news to share with the Kellogg community. Our second daughter, Anne, was born June 10. Her sister, Marie, is blessed, and so are we!”

From Christian Walters: “All is well here in Japan. Kristin ’04 and I were blessed with a baby girl in March. Grace Maria was born in Tokyo and time is flying by! Her big brother Joseph has taken his role very seriously by saying ‘my Gracie’ whenever she is bombarded with ‘Ka-wa-ii,’ which means ‘cute’ in Japanese. We’re enjoying seeing the country and are venturing across Asia next.”

Brian Kanatzar shares, “My wife (Elissa Casstevens) and I were married on Nov. 14, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. We reside in Austin.”

Laura Koepke Albrecht and husband Matt celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jacqueline Grace, in January. Jacqueline loves exploring the world, as she recently started crawling. Life is good!

Daniel José Custódio was named one of Richmond’s “40 most influential people under the age of 40” by Style Weekly magazine for his work in the community. Daniel works at Richmond Public Schools Arts and Humanities Center as its poet in residence.
