The seven-member commission provides management oversight and policy recommendations to the City Council on the operation of the Mineta San Jose International Airport. Spencer was the only applicant among the 13 candidates in the current appointment cycle for the Airport Commission to receive the highest recommendation from San Jose’s Project Diversity Screening Committee. Spencer is a Silicon Valley businessman and investor with more than 20 years of experience in international corporate development.

Previously, the City Council appointed Spencer to the Small Business Development Commission, where he was elected chairman by his fellow commissioners in 2006.
