David Hilliard founded Symphony Development in 1991 as a developer of urban residential and commercial properties. The company is building the first LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) housing for students at the University of Southern California, with completion slated for summer 2011. The privately owned building will house more than 400 students and includes environmental features such as on-site recycling and stormwater treatment, Energy Star fixtures and appliances, prefabricated framing and 95-percent construction waste recycling. David lives in Los Angeles with his wife Marchell and two children, Justin (16) and Lauren (14). Symphony Development specializes in sustainable mixed-use student housing developments in urban settings.
