Attention Class of EMP-56: If you are interested in learning more about your five-year Reunion, please contact Patrick Hankey at 847.467.1307 or p-hankey@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
Hello Class of EMP-56!
With the beginning of fall, our class seems to be getting into high gear. The summer has been good for us and many members have reported trying to "slow down" and enjoy the vacation season this year. Here's our brief, but very exciting, class news:
Kendra Fuson is SVP and CFO at High Net Worth at MMC, one of the largest national broker/dealers. Living in Connecticut, she is traveling extensively between New York City, Des Moines, Iowa, and Los Angeles. Look for more news to come on Kendra's possible relocation and career.
Brian Bancroft continues to enjoy his role at Oil Dri Corp. Reflecting on the start of this year, he has had the opportunity to travel to a number of great places including Edinburgh, Scotland and Normandy, France. The latter trip took place during early June, and during the anniversary of the invasion. While there, Brian saw Omaha, Utah and Gold (Port en Bessin) beaches; an experience he recommends for us all.

Scott Corley has a new edition to the family! Daughter Charlotte was born in February. Scott continues to work at Wideload Games as director of the shorts division. Scott's own company Red Mercury also is doing well and released the AcidSolitaire Collection for the iPhone (you might have read about it in the Chicago Tribune business section on Aug. 6.) EMP-56 wishes you and the growing family all the best of life and happiness!
Jim Rothschild has a new role at Cypress, a company he has been with for many years. With a new focus, Jim is the major account sales manager and will be busy traveling the U.S. to develop business.
Christy Wistar continues her work for the Abbott Fund in Tanzania, where she and husband Tom have been living and working for almost two years. This philanthropic organization has provided nearly $8 million in annual funding to programs to improve health systems and infrastructure. Their latest announcement is the building of a new pediatric clinic for children with HIV with Baylor College of Medicine. The new clinic will be a Center of Excellence in western Tanzania where the HIV prevalence rate is more than 13 percent and most infected children will die before their second birthday. With proper care and treatment, these children can live near-normal lives seen in their program in Romania. Wow, Christy, you and Abbott are making us proud that our Kellogg education can really make a difference beyond the business world!
Dan Masterson and his innovative firm, EMD, have been busy bringing new products to the market – and they are getting recognized! EMD won the 2008 MIT Enterprise Forum White Board Challenge this past June for their Guardian Angel outlet. In addition, EMD's Guardian Angel child stroller was picked up for "final consideration" on the Emmy award winning PBS television show "Everyday Edisons." We can see what fatherhood and Kellogg have motivated Dan and EMD to achieve. Look for more news about the commercial offering for these great products. Congratulations!
Tom Brya was promoted to SVP at KV Pharmaceutical, leading corporate development. He and the family have completed their move to St. Louis, also keeping their property "up north."
It is great to hear of our class' continued success and interesting life. Please keep sending your updates (and photos) my way. This edition's news shows the impact that we can make on the world, as is highlighted by Christy and Dan's achievements. As I am traveling globally, about 70 percent of the time, I see how many opportunities there are to look beyond our borders and our bottom line. Be well and have peace in this upcoming holiday season! |
