EMP-38

Hello EMP-38!

Something unfortunate happened on our way to this issue of Kellogg World. For some reason, I didn't receive the request for info until a day before the submission date so this will be short, but not without substance.

Under the “Big Top”: Front Row, from left: Cindy Vanina, Larry Brand, Trish Lambrecht, Mike Shelton, Betsy Finkelmeier. Back Row: Jerry Lincoln, Mike Smith and Mary Bouska, all EMP-38

  Jim Pogue EMP-38

First, we had our own mini EMP-38 reunion this summer. It was no Ringling Brothers but a group of us gathered "under the big top" this summer. It poured mid-afternoon but when we got together, the clouds parted. In my hurry to gather this group for a picture, I need to apologize to all the respective spouses, they should have been included.

Neal Campbell was highlighted in the Chicago Tribune on Sept. 3 after taking the CEO role at TraffficCast. TrafficCast is about 10 years old and "has developed proprietary technology that aggregates traffic data from more than 350 sources." Neal is working on opening a Chicago office to draw on talent in the mobile phone industry. TrafficCast is seeking additional funding after raising some money earlier this year.

Jim Pogue was promoted to SVP of Guardian's Group (Employer) Insurance business. This new position includes life, disability, medical, dental and vision responsibility for all aspects, including the field sales force, marketing, customer service, billing, claims and underwriting. He writes: "We have about 3,500 employees in the group division, with about 260 field sales reps all over the country. We have three large regional offices in Bethlehem, Pa., Appleton Wis., and Spokane, Wash."

Rumor has it that another of our classmates has made a career change. Steve Aguina, where are you?

We have a few folks celebrating their 50th birthdays this year. Susan Amato, Tom Schwingbeck — Happy Birthday! Ed Phillippi became a grandfather.

In the interest of full disclosure, I too am hitting the big 5-0 this year. AARP here I come!
