EMP-36

It was wonderful to hear from classmates Ed Dunn and Cindy Seemann.

Georganna and Ed Dunn are still in Ann Arbor, Mich. Georganna is a medical social worker at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, a large tertiary care hospital there. Ed continues to serve as director of policy and clinical affairs for the VA National Center for Patient Safety. Ed delivered the keynote address for the sixth Australasian Conference on Safety and Quality in Health Care in Christchurch, New Zealand on Sept. 1. In addition, he ran a workshop on medical team training in Brisbane, Australia. Georganna and Ed also mixed in some sightseeing in both countries during the 2   week trip. Ed also is thinking about potential faculty positions in university medical centers in patient safety and health policy as something he may want to do riding off into the sunset of his career.

Cindy Seemann is enjoying her business venture "kid's optique" specializing in children's eyewear. This is a new division she started after taking over her father's eye care practice three years ago. It's challenging and rewarding being in a combination healthcare and retail business and best of all, Cindy reports, is now getting a paycheck! Her kids are growing up fast – Alexandra (5) and Billy (8).

Both send their best to the rest of you EMP-36ers, as do Mark and I.
