Chad Jansen writes: "Since there were so many wedding announcements in the fall 2007 edition of the Class Notes, I decided to wait a year in hopes that there would be more room on the page for my pictures. While there were quite a few Kellogg alums in attendance, getting everyone away from the bar long enough to take a picture proved to be an impossible task. Instead, we've included picture of Jen and me in front of a white-picket fence. We're still in negotiations with our condo association in Chicago on where we can build one of our own.
"Turning the calendar to 2008, I celebrated my 30th birthday in August. Jen threw an epic party that involved a yellow school bus, a 50-pound pig, a band called Libido Funk Circus, 250 Jell-O shots (thanks Adam) and too many Kellogg friends to list in this already lengthy note.
"Jen and I are still happily married, so I would like to be the first to announce that on Oct. 13 we celebrated our one-year anniversary."
Jessica Bailey writes: "Jason Milesko '05 and I were married in my hometown in Michigan on May 17. We were ecstatic to have so many of our Kellogg friends celebrate with us during our special day. Included in the wedding party were Shilpa [Borkar] Hosler, Eileen Schreiber, Jason Miller '05, Brad Morehead '05 and Gregg Brody '05. After the wedding, we traveled to Greece, Italy and Mexico for our honeymoon and to attend the wedding of Tucker Morrison and Thanda Min, both '05. Now we live on the beach in Sydney, Australia. Please look us up if you are on that side of the world!"
Heather Smith writes: "Chris Thorne and I were married May 24 in Indianapolis, Ind. We had a great time catching up with all of our friends from Kellogg and were so appreciative of everyone making the trip to Indiana. The weekend kept rolling through Sunday when we all went to the Indy 500 and continued celebrating! We honeymooned in Bali and are living in Chicago."
In the quaint town of St. Helena in California's Napa Valley, Shirley Aguila and Frederic Golen were married July 6 in front of family and close friends. The day holds special significance because they went on their first date five years ago to the day. They met while studying for the GMAT. Shirley and Frederic are grateful to have had their Kellogg friends and JVs participate in a weekend of festivities that included a San Francisco Giants baseball game, Fourth of July housewarming BBQ and a vineyard wedding (a few miles from Joseph Phelps Winery where Frederic proposed). Guests who celebrated with the happy couple included: Affiong Bassey (bridesmaid), Natasha Davidson (bridesmaid), Alex Adome, Christi O'Brien, Ajay Chawan '03, Britta Watters, Jimmy Rojas '05, Rose Wang, Rhett Dillingham, Christine Dillingham, Gillray Cadet, Alexandra Redorta, Clayton Virgil, Julayne Austin, Kojo Appenteng and Jaya Gupta. Also toasting the newlyweds were Shirley and Frederic's fellow "Cork & Screw" Wine Club co-chairs: Matt Nicholson, Joely Nicholson, Ashley Lawrence and Niki Fitzgerald. Shirley and Frederic would like to thank everyone who shared in their special day and also thank those who sent their warmest regards but could not attend: "We can't begin to express our happiness and gratitude to all of you. Cheers!"
Livia Sun writes: "John Higgins and I were married July 26 in Bermuda. Jessie (Tiernan) Dixon, Christy (Coleman) Donato and Kajal Gupta joined us as we celebrated with a view of the beautiful turquoise Bermuda water. We live in Brooklyn, N.Y., and headed to Tahiti in October for our honeymoon."
Tejus Korde married Soumya on Aug. 16 in Falls Church, Va.
Alex Kim married Jennifer Yoon on Aug. 30 in Seoul, Korea. Many Kellogg alums were in attendance.
Shay Bujanover writes: "I'm happy to share the news that Maya Bujanover was born May 30 in Minneapolis after 16 long hours of labor (for the ladies in the list, I just don't know how you do it) and 38 weeks of anticipation. Maya was born six pounds, 12 ounces and 19.25 inches long. Karen and Maya are doing wonderfully and we are at home adjusting to the new changes."
Lawrence Cua writes: "My wife Coleen and I had our first baby Lauren Isabelle Cua on July 20. Parenthood is incredibly sleep-depriving but incredibly satisfying. We continue to be based in the Seattle area, where I work as senior marketing manager for T-Mobile USA."
David Neuman and his wife Kristen welcomed their first child Charles Hayden Neuman ("Charlie") on Oct. 19, 2007. The family resides in Arlington, Va.
Carlos Mayer writes: "We are now a family of four. Maricarmen, our daughter Fernanda and myself welcomed our son Carlos on Aug. 16. Everything went well and we are now having the time of our lives with two kids (and very little sleep)."
Aparna and Lax Madapaty welcomed their first baby (boy) Amal Vishnu Madapaty on Aug. 4. Lax writes: "Amal arrived 3.5 weeks early at six pounds and 19 inches. He is already nodding his head to a variety of music and sending signals for play time through keen eye contact. Amal's name means 'pure' in some Indian languages, and we were surprised to discover that the name also has roots in Hebrew and Arabic, meaning 'hope' and other good things. Amal shares his birthday with Louis Armstrong, Billy Bob Thornton and presidential hopeful Barack Obama."
Andy Park is excited to announce the launch of his first post-Special K! venture, "The Hayley Project" (TheHayleyProject.com). Spread the word to any teenagers you know!
