1997 — Part-Time

Dan Brennan moved back to Lake Forest from Indianapolis, Ind., last year and joined Abbott Labs, working now as divisional vice president/general manager of the acute care hospital business. He writes: "I enjoy being back in the Chicago area with my wife Mary and three kids, Brigid, Megan and Clare. I have enjoyed running into many Kellogg grads but still waiting to bump into my old study partner John O'Loughlin."

Glenn Trout reports: "Most days feel like Groundhog's Day, but for some odd reason, I like that. I'm still at MSDSonline, but we're growing very fast, so that's fun. We hit the 100-employee mark in April and business is good. I recently hired Chuck Haling EMP-65 as vice president of sales for MSDSonline. Chuck is a great guy and is doing great things at MSDSonline. Family's good; still just the two kids, Owen and Eloise. I get together with Dobson Schofield about once per month and I see Tim Cartwright once a year at his place in Naples."

Damon Barglow is still running a large-cap growth strategy at Eastern Investment Advisors in Boston. He writes: "I have recently realized my long-term goal of launching a socially responsible investment strategy, the Next Generation portfolio, at the firm. I also just joined the board of our local security analyst society in Boston. Who says Kellogg is only a marketing school? I am enjoying living in Arlington with my wife Beth and kids Rafi (7) and Rachel (4). We are growing more and more veggies in our yard, or crops, as my son likes to say."

Paul Schmerold is a senior account executive at Initiate Systems, a Chicago-based leader in master data management software. He and wife Amy have been married 16 years, and they have twins Peter and Alicia (4). Paul completed his first half marathon in April.

Rob Lynch became a regional sales director with Biotronik Inc. in February. Biotronik is a billion-dollar privately held manufacturer of cardiac rhythm management medical devices.

Rebecca (Huang) Peacock is living in Toronto and recently made another career switch. She left product management at RBC Dexia to join TD Waterhouse. She now runs an internal consulting group that services all wealth businesses of TD Bank Financial Group. With TD's recent acquisition of Commerce Bank in the U.S. Northeast, the mandate now includes U.S. strategy as well. She writes: "It's kind of funny being known as 'the American' in the office. With the weakening of the U.S. dollar, I've noticed more Americans taking jobs in Canada — maybe we'll finally get a decent-sized Kellogg alumni group up here in the great white North. I've been enjoying life in Canada — good work-life balance and fabulous Chinese food!"

Roger Shubert got married in June to Amy DeGrazio of Park Ridge, Ill. Roger and Amy met in early 2007, were engaged in January and are living in Park Ridge. He writes: "It's the second marriage for both of us, and now we have three kids - her son Joe (8) and my kids Anita (6) and Garrison (4). We are in the midst of kicking off the school year and adjusting to life after summer."

After graduating from Kellogg and finishing his time in the U.S. Navy, Mike Engfer worked for two consulting firms building up his business and industry knowledge before joining a large hedge fund, Citadel Investment Group in Chicago, for four years. Upon leaving Citadel, Mike joined HSBC (formerly Household Finance) in Prospect Heights, Ill., in their private-label credit card business specializing in marketing and loyalty programs. After two years, an opportunity arose to go to London with HSBC to help manage all of HSBC's retail banking operations in Europe outside of the U.K. Mike, his wife Vickie and four boys have been in the U.K. for more than a year and are enjoying the wonderful international experience. He will most likely be in London for two more years and the next stop is unknown, with HSBC having business in 85 countries. He can be reached at mengfer@mindspring.com.

My wife Rebecca (Blake) Budd '02 and I enjoyed the Dallas summer, despite the fact that our yard was torn up the majority of the season. We have been building a better area for our kids to run around in now that Jackie (2) and Marcus (1) are both (extremely) mobile. We had the boys up in Chicago for Lollapalooza this summer and continue to try to encourage Bears fandom despite living in Cowboys Country.
