Christopher Lockhart was married June 14 to Beth Jacobs. The happy couple honeymooned for two weeks at The Crane in Barbados and had a wonderful time. Christopher provides this update: "We are just back from reviewing my Grand Cayman development. Anyone interested in fractional ownership of a 5,000-square-foot home overlooking the Caribbean see can e-mail me! Life is good. My investment banking business (Lockhart Group Inc.) is doing well as are my three latest clients — dotStaff, MyTimeCove and Eco-Fueling LLC. I hope all is well with our other alumni and would love to catch up with those from 1991 and 1990."
Bryan Lilly became the associate dean at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business. Bryan received his doctorate from Indiana University in 1997 and worked as a marketing professor in Oshkosh for the past several years. Bryan also serves on the board of directors for Sales and Marketing Professionals of North East Wisconsin. He has two children and will celebrate his 22nd wedding anniversary in December. Congratulations, Bryan!
Finally, while it's natural that during hurricane season our attention turns to what's happening in the coastal regions of the U.S., Gabriele Meissner Doyle reminds us that America's heartland was also hit hard this summer.
She writes: "Greetings from Storm Central. We had a great deal of damage from the straight-line winds that struck the Quad Cities at around 5 a.m. July 21. We were without power and water for seven days at home and the clinic (River Bend Christian Counseling) was out of commission for a week as well. However, we were extremely blessed in that two trees that appeared to have been headed straight for our and our boys' bedroom were averted. One went completely opposite of the house and the other punched a hole in our garage. Our lovely wooded lot is slowly but surely being transformed into firewood for the next umpteen years! All lovely hardwoods: ash, oak, hickory and cherry.
"As far as business news, mental health and substance abuse funding cuts to agencies in our area are starting to bring the situation to a crisis level. Some practices are closing to Medicare/Medicaid patients entirely because they simply cannot keep their practices afloat when the State of Illinois pays perhaps 20 cents on the dollar with an average reimbursement waiting time of 452 days. Waiting lists at the community mental health centers are at least 10 months for a child psychiatrist appointment. As part of our self-mandated mission to educate the public, we presented again "Education Against Addiction" during September, which is National Addictions Recovery Month. To continue our ministry to our community, we are looking into the financial ramifications of a free monthly clinic to help those who are uninsured or under-insured. Hopefully by the time the next update is due, we will have some good news to report about healthcare services to those in greatest need of them but with the least ability to pay for them. With many good wishes to all of you!"
Dave Rochlin was back on campus last year speaking on the topic of fair trade on a panel at the Innovating Social Change Conference. Earlier this year he left his COO role at Transfair to start up a new 'hybrid social enterprise' called ClimatePath (ClimatePath.org), which will create an alternative marketplace for voluntary carbon offsets offered by high impact climate change projects and a set of web-based advocacy tools that help consumers fight global warming, by offsetting and conserving in the way that's right for them. He and Tara Rochlin have two sons and live in Moraga, Calif. |
