— Full-Time I got a few updates over the past several months, but our column continues to be pretty light. If I don't get more updates, I'll have to resort to making things up or continuing to bore you all with my own news. (Is that enough of a threat to generate some e-mails?)
I did hear from Joel Dubin, who writes that the second edition of his book, The Little Black Book of Computer Security, recently came out. The first edition, available on Amazon, was profiled in an article in the Spring 2006 issue of Kellogg World.
Joel also has a Web site dedicated to computer security at theitsecurityguy.com.
John Mankus writes with some scoop on a fellow classmate: "I read in the Denver Post that Laura Sankey has been named SVP of marketing and sales for the Green Bay Packers. What a cool (literally) job! I wonder if Laura will be asked to help sort out the Brett Favre thing." [Editor's Note: Laura, inquiring minds want to know…what's the REAL story there?]
John also writes that he is living in Denver with his wife and three daughters, Brittany, Hanna and Sophia. He works as EVP of Corporate Properties of the Americas, which owns and manages more than 25 million square feet of industrial real estate throughout Mexico. "Living in and commuting to and building a company in Mexico for the past 11 years has been a great and challenging experience. We have grown to 85 employees and have invested over $1.3 billion. I'll be back at Kellogg this fall for some executive education. It will be interesting to see how things have changed."
Finally, I have some news to share. In February, I was promoted to vice president of information management at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. I have responsibility for our enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence functions, both of which continue to grow in both complexity and criticality in healthcare. It's an exciting and challenging role, and I am absolutely ecstatic to be in it! |
