1987 — Full-Time

Greetings Class of '87. It's been a while, but we finally have some news from classmates to report. Lee Wright reports that Gloria Cox was named the managing director at the Cambridge Group (thecambridgegroup.com/about/cox.php). He says she is now the No. 2 person behind the founder of the Chicago firm. Congratulations Gloria! You make us all proud! Lee met up with Gloria and her son on a college visit trip in New England. Jim Ciuca, who was in the same study group with Lee and Gloria for several classes, was hoping to join Gloria and Lee, but had to be in Chicago that day. Jim is with the executive education program at Carnegie Mellon University where he's working on developing programs for companies.

Lee also provided an update on Thomas Hays who made the move from investment banking to interior design. There was a note in spring's Northwestern alumni magazine based on a recent New York Times profile of his design business. It's been a fascinating journey with Thomas enrolling in some very prestigious design programs in the U.S. and abroad before launching his design business, and then buying a boutique hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco. You can learn more at thomashaysinteriors.com and riadmeriem.com. Thomas, you're inspiration to those of us contemplating significant career changes. Thank you!

As for Lee himself, in addition to working with start-ups in places such as Miami, he's been involved at home with local history and preservation of the nearly 350-year-old town of Marlborough, Mass. He serves on the board of trustees of the historical society and on the Marlborough Historic Commission. He also headed up the historic homes tour last spring.

Closer to my home here in Chicago, I received word from Mark Hewitt, president and CEO of Clear Lake Bank & Trust Company, who was elected to serve on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His three-year board term began in January. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is one of 12 regional reserve banks that along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the nation's central bank.

Thanks to Lee and Mark so we finally had some class news to report. I think many have of you just don't think any of your classmates care any more, but I KNOW you turn right to the Class Notes section when your Kellogg World arrives. So here is a random list of names from our class list. If you're on the list or if you know anyone on the list PLEASE send me some news. People would love to hear what you're up to and how you're doing.

Geoff Adaire, Debra Needler Clement, Tom Fitzgerald, Carla Hightower, Joe Madigan, Richard Ramlow, Angela Sperry, Julie Walner.

Until next time.
