1978

Hi classmates. I've enjoyed the last few years as your class rep. Thanks for sharing your lives through your many updates and photos. Stay in touch through our new rep!

Fondly, Jana Garland Kresock

Please welcome John Kvicky, our new 1978 class representative. John writes: "I live in Orange County, Calif., and am president of Quality Systems Group Inc., a consulting firm that provides services to companies seeking certification in one of the International Quality Management System Standards. I received my doctorate degree with a concentration in organizational development from Alliant International University. In May, I was appointed an examiner for the 2008 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Following graduation from Kellogg, I founded the manufacturing firm of Pacific Industries/Pacific Precision Die Casting and branched it out to Southeast Asia where I resided until 1989. More recently, I have been involved in projects involving Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Mexico."

Peter Thompson writes: "I'm still on the faculty in the College of Business Administration at UIC. I love teaching. My two kids are in college."

Blythe (Jaski) McGarvie speaks to companies, associations and academic groups about decision making, often using frameworks from her new book, Shaking the Globe, which will be published by John Wiley & Sons in January. Blythe writes: "Shaking the Globe helps redefine executive success in an interdependent world. In the process, it refutes the premises of protectionism and shows how the global economy can benefit Americans and their businesses. This book shows executives how to transcend biases and adapt to today's economy; teaches them how to establish opportunities for future growth; and helps them learn to coordinate and cooperate across national borders to lead in multinational corporations. It comes recommended and endorsed by our own Dean Dipak Jain."

Cheryl (Alford) Milton writes: "I am still chief of the mental health division, Office of the Circuit Public Defender, in Macon, Ga. My son Matthew is a 10th-grader at Mount Desales Academy."

In August, Kevin Busath joined Iowa Pacific Holdings as director of international finance. Iowa Pacific owns railroads and rail-related operations in the U.S. and the U.K. Kevin is especially pleased to be back working in Chicago's Loop. Coincidently, his office is a block from fellow classmate Paul Nowicki.
