Ivan
Chan
was promoted to general manager of Corning Shanghai Optical
Fiber Co. Ltd. in June 2007 and relocated from Hong Kong to
Shanghai together with his family. In this new role, Ivan
covers both the manufacturing and commercial operations of
Corning's optical fiber business in the Greater China region.
Kym
Fortescue left Standard Chartered Bank and started as
senior regulatory counsel, Asia Pacific, for Allianz Global
Investors in September 2006. As a result of the new role,
she and her family moved back to Hong Kong from Singapore
in January 2007.
Fred
Hung has left his previous employer ASAT and joined computer
graphics GPU (graphics processing units) company NVIDIA as
the director of logistics for Asia Pacific in April 2007.
Based in Hong Kong, he is in charge of keeping track and supporting
all of NVIDIA's material/inventory movements among their suppliers
and customers in Asia Pacific. He is also responsible for
supporting all shipments to and from NVIDIA's R&D centers
in the United States, Taipei, Shenzhen, Shanghai and India.
Bill
Janeri moved from Boulder, Colo., to Dubai in April. In
his role as general manager of the Middle East division for
Global Sources, Bill leads the company's expansion in the
region and will oversee the opening of the company's first
office in the UAE.
Luca
Mignini was promoted in July to vice president and group
managing director for Central and South East Europe of SC
Johnson. Previously in the same role for just the South East
Europe region, Luca now covers all European markets except
the U.K., France, Benelux and Iberia from his base in Milan,
Italy.
After
returning to Hong Kong for almost five years from the United
States (and receiving her Kellogg-KHUST degree along the way),
Joni Ngai moved to Beijing in October 2006 to join MRM Worldwide,
a direct and interactive marketing agency and a member of
the McCann Worldgroup, as the director of data analytics and
technology. With her new job, she is the pioneer in leading
MRM to leverage the power of data, technologies and emerging
media to expand the service scope beyond the traditional marketing
and communications in China.
Scott
Wilson moved from Hong
Kong to London in June 2007 with the same employer, Canadian
Imperial Bank of Commerce/CIBC World Markets. While he keeps
the same title of head of legal and compliance as when he
was in Hong Kong, he also keeps his responsibility in the
Asia Pacific region in addition to his coverage of Europe.
As a result, he travels back to Asia (and meets his KH friends)
frequently.
Arshi
Narang is working on a new business venture by the name
of Navitas, after he sold the majority of his ownership interests
in the earlier business to a U.S. private equity firm in 2006.
The new company operates in the markets of France, Germany
and the United States with the supply operations in India
and South China.
