EMP-55

Attention Class of EMP-55: If you are interested in learning more about your first reunion, please call Katie Taylor at 847.491.3348 or k-taylor@kelloog.northwestern.edu.

Susan Forsell hosted some of our classmates at her home in St. Charles. It was a beautiful August evening, and we enjoyed Susan's delicious Italian cooking! In attendance were Chander Chawla, Eleanor Chou, Sharon Folliard, Cristina Gomez, and Lilia Kiselev. Thanks to Susan and her husband Jeff for a great time!

Manuel Laborde and Steve Goldstein, both EMP-55

Manuel Laborde EMP-55 was named chief of mission of the U.S. Olympic Committee's Team to the Panamerican games in Rio in July 2007.

Manuel Laborde was named chief of mission of the U.S. Olympic Committee's team to the Panamerican games in Rio in July 2007 through a referral by Kimberly Meyer EMP-53. He says it was an unforgettable honor to march into the sold-out Maracana stadium in Rio behind the flag bearer for the U.S. team with 5,000 drummers. This was truly an incredible experience watching the strategy and execution of the USOC's executives and operational teams at work during a large international sports event, while being surrounded by young, energetic, over-achieving athletes giving everything they have to bring back home the largest number of medals of any delegation. This was also a great opportunity for Manuel to meet the very impressive Chicago 2016 Olympic bid team as they gear up for what should be a great competition to win the games for the United States. He looks forward to continuing to help the USOC with international relations.

After leaving his corporate job with Loders Croklaan in January to start Synergia Corp., they have acquired two competitors in the coffee distribution business this year quadrupling the company in size. Manuel says it has been quite a ride integrating everything while changing ERP systems but reports enjoying every minute of it! He's tapped into his Kellogg network to explore opportunities and seek advice from a number of our EMP-55 classmates.

Manuel has really been a busy guy! He also completed the "Ride the Rockies" in July 2007 with Jay Goldstein and a group of riders from the northern suburbs. They spent 7 straight days riding 422 miles and 20,000 ft of elevation. Wow! He reports it was truly beautiful, and invites other Kellogg cyclists out there to join him next year for a good challenge!

Shari Litow and her family completed their relocation to Richmond, Va. She's settling into her new home and her new job with Dupont.

Tracey Quinn and her husband Jeff Calabrese moved with their son Kian to a new home in Winnteka, Ill.

Gupreet Singh and wife Amrit welcome Ajay Dev Singh to the world. He was born on May 17 and weighed in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces. Mom, Ajay and big brother Arjun are doing fine. Congrats to Gupreet and Amrit!

Wayne Sottile organized an event for our class in august at Arlington Race Track. There was a pretty good turn-out including Mike Cassady, Flavio Cardosa, Chander Chawla, Phil Dolci, Jay Goldstein, Cristina Gomez, Lilia Kiselev, Manuel Laborde, Paul Laskosky, Paul Pappageorge, Bob Shanahan and Bernadette Birt. Everybody had a great time reconnecting with their Kellogg friends! Thanks to Wayne for organizing!

Tony Tedeschi reports that life is good! Tony and his wife Dee Dee have three kids: AJ and Joey in high school and Tommy in 3rd grade. AJ is looking at colleges and participating in a Presidential Scholars Program. Joey is a freshman and has been busy with high school sports (baseball right now). Tommy keeps Tony and DeeDee young. As he grows up in the shadow of two older brothers, he's intent on leaving his mark on the world.

Tony's company, The Sibery Group, is growing and doing well. Sibery is responsible for a very successful "turnaround" at Roseland Community Hospital on the far south side. Sibery transitioned out of a 22-month total facility management role in September and continues to serve the new administration as a part of transition. In the meantime, Sibery Group has begun working with another Chicago-based hospital, Norwegian American Hospital, with 11 employees working on improving clinical and financial operations. Tony is the COO and chief medical officer. Sibery Group's sister company, The Sibery Group Physician Solutions, focuses on helping physicians with practice management. TSG-Physician Solutions is growing quickly as well and recently relocated the main office to Oak Brook.
