EMP-39

Attention Class of EMP-39: If you are interested in learning more about your first reunion, please call Katie Taylor at 847.491.3348 or k-taylor@kelloog.northwestern.edu.

Hello, EMP-39ers. It has been a year since I submitted an entry — sorry for dropping the ball. I could give you all the excuses (held in Guantanamo Bay for questioning, abducted by aliens, etc), but in any case I am back! I ask that all fellow EMP-39ers send me your contact information and an update on your life to me. Time to get reconnected!

Chris Storm EMP-39 won the Hemingway look-alike contest.

The Wulf family lives in Wisconsin, and I work for Cardinal Health as an operational excellence deployment leader. What that translates to is I work with four different business units helping them understand and utilize the Lean Six Sigma tools to improve their results. It certainly helps that the directive is coming from the top, CEO Kerry Clarke, but Cardinal Health is transitioning for a holding company to an operating company and cultural change is always an interesting challenge.

Pedro M. Ferreira (Dr. Pete) is alive and kicking and provided the following update:

"My wife, Margaret, retired from State of Delaware service as of Jan. 1, 2005. She is doing a lot of church work and enjoying taking U. of D. courses.

"My practice is doing quite well. I've been an adjunct at the University College component of Widener University (Chester, Pa.) for more than eight years. Have won 'Outstanding Faculty Award' in both 2004 and 2007. I was nominated by my dean for the Outstanding Faculty award of the University College Education Association (Mid-Atlantic region) and received an award letter, just two weeks ago. Have two cats: Paco (boy) and Stryker (girl). Office is in the home (mostly for psychotherapy patients, I see other patients at their residence, nursing home and, yes, prison) and I have been doing a fair amount of forensic psychology, usually capital murder cases. Again, our wishes for health and happiness. God bless you. My regards to other group and EMP-39 members."

Chris Storm had an active year! He wrote: "My wife, Grite, and I have pretty much relocated to a home in Red Lodge, Mont., although I maintain an office in Amarillo and come back about a week per month. Grite's translation business is doing well. I'm still looking for an interesting business to buy. Our kids are well. My son Christopher, whom you may remember from his visit to check out Northwestern, received his PhD in math in June and is now a professor at Adelphi University in New York. A sure proof that genes do skip generations! George is a surety bond underwriter for Zurich Re and Andrew is a securities analyst for Lord Abbett. All three of Grite's children and our two grandchildren live in France. In the summer of 2006, I finally won the Hemingway look-alike contest. Now I'm a judge and people buy me drinks instead of the other way around.
