Granoff
JD-MBA '97 is involved in alternative energy investing in
the U.S. and Israel, including the first Cleantech venture
fund in Israel and a new company that envisions building a
charge network throughout Israel. It will permit electric
vehicles to begin replacing traditional cars — and demonstrate

Tenafly, N.J., with his wife and their four children (the
oldest of whom is 4).

Susan
Greenspan Cohen has relocated to Chapel Hill, N.C., with
her husband, Neil, and three kids, Zachary (7), Ali (4) and
Sophie (2). They'd love to connect with any Kellogg alums
in the area. E-mail her at susancohe@gmail.com.
Ruben
Cors has been quite busy lately, doing what he enjoys
the most. After several years at Bain & Co., Ruben decided
to try the entrepreneurial path and has been doing that the
last few years. This year, Ruben launched a non-bank bank
targeting the mortgage business in Mexico, called Condesa
Financiera. This financial institution, backed by U.S. money,
was created to originate mortgage loans in Mexico and then
sell them to U.S. financial markets in the form of mortgage-backed
securities. Earlier this year, Ruben opened a cultural theme
park in Cozumel, Mexico, under the name Discover Mexico. It
combines a miniature park with a Mexican experience, with
the goal of offering all visitors an overview of Mexican culture.
Last year, Ruben opened an entertainment center in Mexico
City, in association with the sixth-largest cinema operator
in the world. This entertainment venue, called Cinema Park,
makes use of the underused capacity of movie theaters during
weekday mornings and creates multisensorial experiences for
school groups. The seats have four-dimensional effects: They
move, throw water on your face, smell, tickle, shake, blow
wind, etc. The projection is 3-D and each person has a wireless
remote control that allows him or her to interact with the
projection and influence the outcome of the movie. In addition
to managing the day-to-day operations of the mortgage non-bank
bank, Ruben is investing in the development of new technologies
with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for electricity reduction
and environmentally conscious outdoor lighting solutions.
Ruben is married to Adriana, whom most of you met during the
Kellogg years, and has three beautiful daughters, Ximena (9),
Daniela (7) and Macarena (5) — that's right, Macarena,
like the song! His pastimes continue to include his two favorite
activities: traveling and long-distance running. If anything
takes you to Mexico City, call Ruben, who enjoys giving city
tours and telling the history of his country to friends.
Naoki
Takahashi has moved to the following address: 1-7-22,
Kamikiyoto, Kiyose-shi, Tokyo 204-0013 Japan; tel: +81.42.458.0407.
Menno
Veeneklaas recently joined Virgin Management, which is
Richard Branson's investment holding company. He is a member
of the investment team, developing new business opportunities
and assessing new investments in the health-and-wellness and
renewable-energy sectors. Menno sold out of YourHealth Group
in June 2006, having managed that business for more than five
years. His two sons, Finn (6) and Charlie (4), are loving
life in Sydney. Menno is still enjoying his sailing, body
surfing, cycling and remote-control toys.
Alex
Mitchell and wife Kelley are keeping life exciting. For
the second time in two and a half years, they have moved and
had a baby within the space of a few weeks. After seven years
in Austin, they moved back home to Kansas City and added their
fifth child, Andrew Clark, to the family. Alex still sells
software to communications companies for Motive.
Tim
Moran and wife Rocio welcomed Colin James into the world
on July 25 and scored a minivan with three child seats shortly
thereafter. Colin joins sisters Ellie (3) and Keira (18 months).
Tim is CEO of CSF Therapeutics in Cleveland, a venture-funded
medical device startup he founded in 2006.
Alex
Emery has now been
in Japan two years, where he works with a European private
equity firm, Permira. Their fourth child, Savannah, was born
in March. Charlotte (10), who was born in the Evanston Women's
Hospital shortly after our graduation, came with him to the
reunion and was delighted to hang out with the Giolo kids
and the Magin kids, amongst others.
Rick
Heller welcomed a baby girl, Kira Chao Heller, into the
world on Nov. 2, 2006. Rick writes that it "turns out
she's the cutest baby in the world!"
Just
a couple of months after our 10-year class reunion, Javier
Sanchez Bures and his wife, Ana, welcomed their second
son, Rodrigo, on July 6. At 19 inches and 6.3 pounds, Rodrigo
was born just a little bit smaller than his brother, Emilio
(2), but is catching up at the same pace at which his parents
are losing sleep! Ana, Rodrigo and Emilio are doing fine,
adjusting to the new lifestyle. |
