EMP-60
Hello
from Sin City as the year of the dog (and babies) rolls on!
Alfonso
Parra was ecstatic to report the healthy arrival of his
twin sons. The photo he sent out (e-mail me if you need a
copy) to the class is so adorable. Lucas James and Mario Alfonso
were born on June 9. They weighed 6 lbs., 2 oz., and 5 lbs.,
7 oz., respectively and were 19.5 and 18.5 inches long. Alfonso's
wife Heidi and the babies are home and doing great. We wish
them all the best!
Roy
Rumbough wrote us all in August about his exciting move
to Dallas. He writes, "I accepted a position with Lennox
International as their vice president corporate controller
and chief accounting officer." He is thrilled to be back
in a larger city, especially one with a warmer climate. He
is very happy with the company, and invites anyone passing
through to give him a call.

Phil Glick
topped off an exciting summer with a hole-in-one at the beautiful
Torrey Pines North course in La Jolla, CA. We, of course, made
him prove it with pictures and can see that his ball hit four
inches beyond the hole, snapped back, hit the pin and went right
in! He advises that you use a 9-iron as he did for a 146-yard
perfect shot on hole number six.
PA
Wendin and his business partner Kris Intress sold
their first successful post-Kellogg business. Over the next
few months they are evaluating a prospectus to purchase another
business, and we anxiously await the news.
Luis Orbegoso
is enjoying his new position at GE and living in Connecticut.
His beautiful wife Colleen recently participated in the Sturgis
Motorcycle rally where Luis "2-D" sported a shaved
head and fake tattoos! Colleen is also doing well with her role
at Starbucks. She has won a nation-wide baking contest and all
of the New England locations will be selling her special pastry
during a fall promotion. All you East Coasters had better order
"Colleen's Alfajor" if you see it on the menu.
Mike Rafi has had a great summer with his family and is
gearing up for his trip to Dublin to watch the Ryder Cup at
the K Club in September. He didn't appreciate my 4 a.m. wake-up
call during the reunion, but that is the price you pay when
you no-show. He visited Randy McCreary on the Chesapeake and
went on a "fishing" trip to Deep Creek Lake in Western
Maryland with his buddy Ron Keating.
I was
fortunate enough to visit with Hiro Hanakame and his
fabulous wife Yuri on a recent trip to Japan. They were the
most gracious hosts, and truly gave me an authentic taste
of the magnificent Tokyo. They are doing very well, and are
building a new home outside of the city. As president, Hiro
has been extremely busy managing the merger of Lilac and another
company. When completed, they will double their size and become
the leader in their industry. They miss Evanston and all of
their classmates and friends, and hope to visit again soon.
We
are planning a two-year reunion in May in Miami, so stay tuned
for dates!
