Reg
Davis,
an assistant managing editor at the American Bar Association
Journal, has joined the ranks of the empty-nesters. Reg
writes: "My youngest child just began his freshman year
at Purdue University (yes, we know the rivalry, but with five
other direct relatives with Purdue credentials, he had no
choice). The others are a daughter at Illinois State and an
older son starting his working career."
A
note from Abhijit Nimgaonkar: "I am writing this
from Pune, India, where I've spent most of my time since January
2005. I opened an office for my company here at that time.
I would love to hear from anyone in the Mumbai-Pune area."
Art
Handman wrote in September, "John is three weeks
into first grade, and five days of full-time school is certainly
an adjustment for a 6-year-old. He's doing well, but is certainly
more tired these days! We hit Boston for the Labor Day weekend,
saw a Red Sox game at Fenway, and then went to 'all relatives
all the time' for the rest of our visit."
"As
to news on classmates, I got to see Jerry Edwards here
in St. Louis as he visited on his way from Boston to Omaha.
He and Samantha are enjoying life in the Boston area. I've
also been trading voicemails with Tim Stevens, but
we haven't actually connected live yet — hopefully soon."

Bob
Weeks EMP-37 and Prof. Leigh Thompson compete in their
first tandem citerium race in Eugene, Ore. |
Your
humble class rep Bob Weeks writes: "Last summer,
Leigh and I and the kids had another great trip to the Pacific
Northwest. We did a lot of fun family bike rides and Leigh
and I even entered our first stage race! We rode our tandem
in the Co-Motion Classic Tandem Stage Race in Eugene, Ore.
It included a prologue hill climb race, a time trial, a criterium
race and two road races over a four-day period. We were in
13th place after the first race, but eventually worked our
way to 9th place in the general classification by the end
of the last race. Leigh and I have never experienced racing
first hand, so it was a memorable trip. Temperatures ranged
from the high 90s to 105 degrees!
"The
kids are all doing well. Sam (11) is in 6th grade at Skokie
School in Winnetka. Ray (9) is in 4th grade and Anna (7) is
2nd grade (both at Greeley School in Winnetka). Sam and Ray
are really into basketball. Anna is currently taking tap dance
lessons and plans to play a part in the Lake Forest Children's
Theatre Company version of 'Guys and Dolls.'"
