EMP-26

Warren Frank writes that after a few months in transition, he is now the chief operations and financial officer of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He says he is fortunate to have had many family members and friends help him through the transition and that he is excited about his new position.

Sharon West writes, "I released my third CD, 'Notes from the Woods,' which was inspired by the lovely Morton Arboretum near my home, where I go to walk and get inspired, replenished by the beauty of nature. I think people will enjoy it. I continue to learn a great deal about focus and marketing a product — both developing a product to fit a market and creating something unique that will surprise people, from an artistic and yet marketable viewpoint.

"It's all been a wonderful journey, full of exhilaration and frustration, but that is what life is all about, so I am happy. Have traveled a bit this summer. A cruise to Alaska was very enlightening and provided a lot for my next album. Hope to see as many people as can make it to the EMP-26 Chataqua this year, if we have one!"

Mary Hayes Cloyes writes, "It's been a year of contrasts so far for me. My new job as vice president and general manager of Thilmany Papers continues to be a great learning experience and a wonderful reason to get up energized every morning.

"Sadly, I lost my 87-year-old father, Morris, in June. It was unexpected and he did not linger long. He lived life to its fullest right up until the last two weeks. Lastly, my partner Mari and I traveled to Alaska for two weeks this summer with a friend and our 12-year-old goddaughter. Five days of sea kayaking followed by a week in Denali, which included a close encounter (within 20 feet) of a mother grizzly and two cubs while hiking. They were gorgeous animals and showed no interest in anything but the massive number of blueberries in the area. Hope all is well with my many EMP friends. I look forward to our next Chautaqua."

Brian Dietmeyer writes, "Had a great summer with the family (yes, I have one). We spent most of it at our summer home near Lake Geneva. Lots of skiing, boarding, motorcycle riding, hiking at the Kettle Moraine forest and of course barbecuing. Now, sadly, we're back at full speed in the city. Think! continues to grow and prosper. We're doing lots of global work."
