Kellogg alumni class of 1989
1989 classmates traveled from far and wide in October to catch up over a great dinner at Pane Caldo in Chicago. Standing, from left: Gwen Farley Green, Janice Mabie MacVicar, Tiscia Eicher, Patty Hopfinger Funderburg, Brooke Bauer Berg (all '89); seated, from left: Karen Mellman Smith, Marion Downey Hanold, Kate MacKinnon Hansell, Debbie Decker Hall (all '89)

Andres Ibanez sent his greetings from Chile: "Since graduation from Kellogg, I have been devoted to two professional endeavors. With a partner, I founded an advertising and direct marketing company in Chile. After 15 years, we have great clients, a partnership with Rapp Collins Co. (OMNICOM USA) and more than 90 people working with us. The second endeavor is my academic life, which has become a passion (maybe because of the Kellogg professors' example). I have been teaching marketing courses at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and I am its MBA director. I am also a board member at a consumer products company and a department store in Chile.

"In my personal life, I am happily married to Carolina (we were already married when at Kellogg). Sebastian, who was born in Evanston, is now almost 18 years old and looking forward to college. After him, we had five more children (trying to work against the population reduction trend in my country, which is similar to Italy's). The smallest one is almost three years old.

"We invite our classmates to visit Chilean Patagonia or the driest desert in the world. We would be happy to host you!"

David Garland writes, "Since graduating, I have finally switched jobs for the first time. I spent six years with Searle, Pharmacia and Pfizer. In October 2004, I joined Sanofi-Aventis in Richmond, Va. My daughter Rachel turned three in June and my wife Carroll is a veterinarian for small animals.

Denise Bindelglass took time out from her busy life as a new mother to send this note and photo. "Life is great in Lincoln Park, where I am enjoying the birth of my first child, Paulina Marie, who was born on July 1. She was worth the wait.

"Professionally, I have been with Trading Technologies, a Chicago-based software developer of electronic trading software, as vice president of human resources. I have been with TT since November 2003 and we have grown about 300 percent since then. The work keeps my staff and I very busy. The company enjoys a reputation as a premier provider of software in a very fast-growing industry. I recently saw Fernando Montesino in London while I was there on business. I also see Amy Laban often, and Tina Tranfalia, Tiscia Eicher and Christian Vandendriesche less often than I would like. I run into Bruce Carlson near our offices in the South Loop. Wish I would run into more Kellogg friends."

I can attest to Denise's husband's golf skills — my three sons all have taken lessons from Don and they have fallen in love with the game. Keep the e-mails coming — it's always great to hear from everyone.
