TMP
2000
Greetings,
TMP Class of 2000!
What
a great time to be in Chicago. By the time this goes to
print, we’ll know if the Cubs have broken their
playoff drought. I hope you had a chance to catch a game
this year. It may not happen again in our lifetime!
Thanks
to everyone for the great updates. If you don’t
receive a quarterly reminder from yours truly about submitting
Class Notes, perhaps your alumni email forwarding address
isn’t set up. To do this, go to www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/alumni
to set this up. Notice that the URL has changed. While you
are there, be sure to sign up for the TMP Class of 2000 listserv.
Joro
Ayenew writes that he is still at Visibility, but due to
business opportunities on the East Coast, he has moved
to New York City. Joro expects to stay there at least through
end of the year, but hopes to return to Chicago by 2005.
Knowing Joro, he is probably running the local NYC chapter
of Kellogg Alumni by now. Thanks for the update, Joro.
We miss you back here in Chicago. You can reach him at
Tewabe.Ayenew@Visibillity.com.
Jimmy
Li dropped me a note from Chandler, Ariz., (near Phoenix).
Jimmy writes: “I am the capital manager of Intel’s
biggest manufacturing division and managing more than $1
Billion capital spends per year. After a long, hot year (118
degrees for a high) and stormy (monsoon) summer, my family
and I are ready to enjoy the relatively warm fall and winter
with fond memories of Disney Land and Universal Studios.
The 3-D Shrek and Jurassic Park rides were spectacular. It
was nice to have a good time with my family. I can be reached
at jimmy.li@intel.com.”
After
growing tired of the consulting travel grind with AT Kearney,
Dan McDevitt has joined the supply chain group at
RR Donnelley. His newfound time is being pleasantly spent
on the baseball and football fields coaching his four boys.
You can reach him at daniel.j.mcdevitt@rrd.com.
George
Monical is working at Virgin Mobile in Sydney, Australia.
Although his official title is “The Prophet,” George
likens his role to a market strategy manager, responsible
for turning the company toward profitability. George married
Amy Dooley on Sept. 21, 2001, and had a son, Charles Vincent
Monical, on May 10. George invites any Kellogg alums visiting
Australia to look him up at george_monical@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks
for the update, George. You have definitely traveled the
farthest of any alum I’m aware of.
Scott
Pape also has left the U.S. after accepting a tremendous
opportunity to run the operations at U.S. Steel’s plant
in Kosice, Slovakia. Scott, his wife, Janine, and son, John,
15 months, are doing fine, even with the hectic pace of selling
a house and moving to Europe on three weeks’ notice,
sight unseen!

TMP 2000 classmates (and friends) reconnected with
GIM China classmates this spring at the Szechwan House
in Chicago. |

If any
Kellogg alums just happen to be cruising around Slovakia,
near the Hungarian and Ukrainian borders, be sure to
stop in and say hello to the Papes. Scott can be reached
at
SCPape@uss.com. It’s not quite the same as cruising
around Hong Kong harbor with the GIM China group, Scott,
but it sounds like
one amazing experience. Stay in touch, and go, Steelers.
On Aug.
31, Matt Par married Dr. Midori Takeyasu. The wedding took
place at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Luke’s
in Chicago, and the reception was at the Peggy Notebaert
Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. Fellow Kellogg alums Varanda
Handy ’00 and Rahul Garapaty ’01 were in attendance.
Matt
has started up Chicagoland Pool Management Inc., which
provides swimming pool management services for commercial
pools such as those at country clubs and apartment and
condominium
complexes. The business hires, trains and manages lifeguard
staff; provides pool equipment; supplies safety equipment,
deck furniture and chemicals; handles seasonal openings
and closings; and does construction and repair work. Matt
can
be reached at: Chicagoland Pool Management Inc., 2506 N.
Clark St., Box 283, Chicago, IL 60614; phone/fax: 773.857.0226.

Kathryn
Williams Spilotro and her husband, Daniel, welcomed their
first child on April 23. Dominic Spilotro is amazing,
and Katie and Daniel couldn’t be happier. Interested
in seeing photos of Dominic? Email Katie at ktbbq@yahoo.com.
Michael
Weiner reports that he is working at Citadel Investment
Group in Chicago and currently has his hands full with
son Max, 2, and daughter Lila, 9 months. You can reach
Michael
at mweiner@rocketmail.com.
Sari
(Rosenfeld) Winick and husband Mark are proud to announce
the birth of their son, Avi Elan Winick, on Aug. 27. He
joins big brother Joshua, 2. In job news, Sari has been
at Quaker
three years and is now the brand manager of Cap’n Crunch
cereal. This makes Sari (who, I just found out, is a close
neighbor of mine in Lakeview) one of my new best friends,
since I still love Crunch Berries (also in her portfolio).
Thanks
again to everyone for the great updates. Keep them coming.
Hope to see some of you at the TGIFs or at a Northwestern
football game. Go, Cats! |
