EMP-11

Richard C. Ross has retired from IBM & AT&T and moved to Barrington, Ill. He and his wife, Sigrid Reusse Ross, can be reached at 847.304.6653 or at richardcross@attglobal.net.

Rob Milburn is currently living in Columbia, S.C., where he’s teaching at Webster University in the graduate program. He’s also consulting and managing a startup company in his free time. Rob and wife Marlys plan to spend a lot of time in the north woods of Wisconsin.

Ron Nicholas writes to us from his room on the Mona Campus of the University of West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Says he’s on a consulting gig there. He’s also involved in faculty work with the University of Phoenix. Ron will also be visiting universities in Barbados, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Guyana and Suriname. Sounds like one big vacation to us, Ron. He can be reached at ronnicholas@charter.net.

Cheryl Stepney continues at Microsoft as a data-based-industry evangelist and is executive chair for March of Dimes and for a feed-the-hungry program called Loaves & Fishes. Her daughter, Camille, now has her masters of law, son Adam is completing a degree in interior design and Cheryl is a grandmother to kindergartner Cassidy. Cheryl can be reached at cstepney@microsoft.com.

Jim Szewczyk has hung up his spikes after 20 years with Nabisco/Kraft. He and wife Deb have moved to Chattanooga, Tenn. They are doing lots of traveling, including to Chicago, to see a new grandson. Jim says to stop and see him if any of you are in the area. He can be reached at 423.326.3500 or aeri2@comcast.net.

Jan Leestma says we should have seen him on “Court TV” awhile back. He was testifying at the Peterson murder trial in Durham, N.C. Jan can be reached at JLeestma@aol.com.

John Goebel says he is in training for retirement. He’s pulling the plug on Feb. 2. After going through three sales of the company in the last eight years, John says he has had it. He can’t believe that it’s been 20 years since we started EMP-11. Time flies! John wants us to start using his new email address: john.goebel@verizon.net.

Carol Laporta is vice president of development for a cosmetic company that is doing well. She says most of her fall has been spent sorting out the 137 governor candidates. Carol spent several weeks in France this summer and was in Toulouse for a nephew’s wedding. Temp was 100 degrees. Wow! Carol’s daughter, Lisa, signed a deal for a show on HGTV scheduled to air next season. Lisa is a graduate of the design school at UCLA. Son Philip lives in Chicago, is in real estate and owns some rental properties in Indiana. Carol hopes we all have a great fall. She can be reached at CLAPORTA@aol.com.

Russ Luedtke, your class rep, has hung up his real estate broker’s license and is doing only locksmithing and rental property management for the present. My wife, Joan, gave her five-year notice two years ago, so in three years maybe we will both retire. It seems that everyone I know, though, is busier in retirement then they were working, so I don’t know what will come. I am going to start drawing Social Security in January, however.

I enjoy keeping in touch with those of you who write, and hope that more of you will reply to my call for class information.
