1985

Greetings to the Class of ’85.

Is life as busy for you all as it is for us? Between Ted’s and my own personal commitments, both professional and volunteer, and all the kids’ sports, school and after-school activities, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to breathe! Who would have thought our lives could be this full? And we thought we were busy rushing around Leverone Hall preparing for classes and interviews. Ha!

I have heard from only a few of you this time, but given the above facts, I will cut short the lecture about writing to me so I have something to put into this column. I’ve been trying to write to my undergraduate correspondent for about five years now...never seems like my news is worthy enough to write about, or perhaps even take my time to write about, but the emails I receive from you all are very interesting. I enjoy receiving each one. Maybe I will write my correspondent today...

Bill Swanson writes that he started a new job as president of Diamond Holding Corp. in March 2002. Diamond is the parent of Diamond Roller (printing rubber roller manufacturers), US Elastomer (custom rubber compounder), Diamond Press (envelope printing press manufacturer) and Diamond Machine (core manufacturer). Bill, his wife, Jane, and children Betsy, 10, and Billy, 4, relocated from the Chicago area to northwest Atlanta this summer. They have adjusted well to the South and to the Eastern time zone.

From western New York, Bruce Boissonault reports that he was named president of the Niagara Health Quality Coalition this year by the board of directors. In November 2002, NHQC released the New York State Hospital Quality Indicators Report Card. Coverage was extensive in The New York Times, Consumer Reports, National Public Radio and other media. Bruce also reports exciting news of his family. His son Alex, 14, went on a two-week violin performance tour this summer in five cities in Brazil. William, 8, is also a very good violinist, and Bruce’s wife, Joan, received the music teacher of the year award in May from Joanne Filetta, conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rob Ahrensdorf writes: “Still living in Phoenix, melting in the summer, searching for air conditioning and cool drinks. When not trying to promote hot tub sales, am chasing around my 11- and 9-year-old sons at soccer games.”

Please, if the mood strikes, and you find yourselves with a spare five minutes to bolt out a quick email, your classmates would appreciate hearing from you. Looking forward to that day! Hope everyone remains well in the meantime.
