I recently heard from Mel Gilbert, who lives very close to Ground Zero in New York City. In his note he indicated that even though the smoke and the odor from the burning wreckage is now long gone, the area in which he lives still feels strange. A few blocks from his home there is an entire wall at St. Vincent’s Hospital, which is covered with photos of people lost and forever missing.

Mel has also taken a new position at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York doing what is called consultation-liaison psychiatry. In this role, Mel works with patients on medical and surgical floors who have some type of psychiatric issue. He is also involved with revamping and restructuring the faculty practice program for the department of psychiatry. The position carries a faculty affiliation at the Columbia University School of Medicine, and he will be teaching and training medical students and residents from the department of medicine.

Mark Lamb is on the move again — he and his family have relocated to Augusta, Ga. Mark has taken a position with the E-Z-GO division of Textron. E-Z-GO is the world’s largest manufacturer of golf carts.
