Well, it’s been a busy summer for all of us, except for those few still trotting the globe and enjoying a student’s life of leisure. This will be a regular column to update everyone on all the news that’s fit to print about the lives, loves, new babies, new homes and new jobs for the members of the class of ’02. Please help me in this endeavor by sharing the latest juicy, and not so juicy, details about your lives and/or the lives of your Kellogg friends.

Love has been in the air. Tarik Rodgers kicked off the summer by marrying Dr. Tanya Elaine Reddick Rodgers (NU Medical School ’02) June 7, right before graduation. Tarik took all his finals the last week of school — his last one was the morning of the wedding (and after the bachelor party!). Numerous alums helped the couple celebrate their day. In attendance were Nicole Gilmore, Ronnie Frankowski, Chris Jones (Jonesy) and future wife, Amanda, Brad Benn, Mark Colella, Cindy Carey, Sarah Lok, Ryan Wright, Carson Brown Jr., Neil Stewart, Gizman Abbas, Jein Gadson (groomsman), Ken McRay (groomsman), Michelle Awuku, Jacqueline Young, Funmi Afonja, Torria Ellis, Kevin Christie, Arnicia Fleming and Damon Owens. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and have settled in Dearborn, Mich., where Elaine has begun her residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Since life was so hectic, Tarik has recently begun the search for that perfect post-Kellogg job.

Cameron Van Orman was next in line, marrying in Evanston on June 29. As a guest, I can attest that it was a fabulous event. Other Class ’02 alums in attendance included Lisa Jackson, Dan Grace, Nick Slater, Ryan Osterholm, Jim Butler, Eric Swanson, Mike ‘Dr. Evil’ Schulte, Dan Bird, Jody Murdough Janey Dean, Sara Thomas and Rich Monopoli. Cameron and Tracy honeymooned in Montana and have now settled outside Denver, in Lafayette, Colo.

Stephanie Blackburn and Tim Freeth ’01 just returned from their honeymoon in Hawaii. The wedding was wonderful with tons of Kellogg folks in attendance. Attendees include bridesmaid Kathleen O’Connell, John Thee (reader) and wife, Lynn, Joe Dziedzic, Dan Gingiss, Josh Holmstrom, Mike Dowhan, Brooke Stabbert and Rebecca Evans — now Grimm — and new husband Brian Grimm, who got married two weeks earlier. Stephanie just started work as the director of major gifts for Kellogg. It’s a new position in Kellogg’s development office and she will be doing a lot of travel to meet with alumni and potential donors from the Kellogg family. Steph and Tim are still in Evanston, but plan to move downtown in the next few months.

Kedar Nadkarni (MMM) was married in early September to Anjalee in Detroit. Another great wedding with lots of Kellogg guests — Heidi Eggert, Ashley Martorana, David DeLorenzo, Michelle Lee, Michelle Suhrie, Dave Wolbert, Jeff Zeunik, Tony Uzan, Kirby Shimko and Shoba Narananyan.

Steve Pockross wrote with a quick summary of the last few months, which included a marriage to new wife, Jen. “The wedding was truly amazing. Honeymoon was good, too. Jen’s graduation was inspiring. My graduation was sweaty.” How could we ever forget?

Rajit Malholtra tied the knot in early September to Rashna Mistry, also a Northwestern alum from the graduate school.

Tim Sznewajs also got married. Jon Resnick, Andrew Schlossberg and Ross Nelson represented Kellogg at the event.

We had several Kellogg weddings Aug. 2. Carrie Bither to Jeff Palmer in Kennebunkport, Maine; Wendy Seligman to Jonathan, and Becky Evans to Brian Grimm.

Dave Shearer and girlfriend, Molly, are now living in Seattle.

Beata Drizin and Erich Kirr ’01 visited Paris this summer. Beata and Erich are now living in Chicago.

Katherine Carla (Katie) was born to Dave Scalzo and wife, Cory, on Sept 14. Mom, Dad, and daughter are doing great.

Nyle Garg, whose name means “champion,” came into this world Aug. 30, born to dad Deepak Garg and wife, Charu. Both mom and baby are fine. Dad is busy running around but enjoying every moment of it.

Aurnaud Melin and wife, Florence, had a baby boy, Bastien, on Aug. 8 in Brittanny.

Jed Wallace, Albert Hwang and I are all working for the San Diego City School District and learning about the inner workings of a large, urban public school system. Jed and wife, Amy, have bought a beautiful house and are expecting their first child in early October.

Marisa Joelson is also now at the Kennedy School of Government beginning a master’s program.

Neal Freeland wrote that he and wife, Julia, spent the summer in Hawaii (Neal raced over from San Francisco on a sailboat). They’re now in Seattle suffering through a house hunt.

Neal also filled me in on Josh Holmstrom who spent the entire summer in a car. Josh drove 27,000 miles — East Coast to West Coast to Alaska to Chicago. Several legs repeated, and 10,000 miles of it with his parents.
Mitch Hu also wrote after spending a week visiting San Francisco. Although he loved his trip, the Silicon Valley job market apparently hasn’t yet returned to its pre-dot bomb days.

Barbara Liss has packed up, left Chicago and started work at General Mills. Those wanting to check out the Mall of America have an open invitation — Barbara just asks that you bring your own parka and sock warmers.

Shoba Narananyan just got a dream job offer in finance at The Limited. She will be working from Columbus, Ohio.

David Baker and David Cohen are both still enjoying a life of luxury and traveling somewhere between Spain and Australia. As for the rest of you, please keep me posted on your lives.
