Writing you this time from Beijing. I’ve taken a new role at Motorola, director of marketing for the Asia Pacific group in our handset sector. Will find myself in the region a bit, would look forward to catching up with some of the ’88ers in the area. Drop me a line with your most current email address. I’m mostly in Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Singapore, although this won’t be to exclusivity.

Ralph Russo, president and CEO of Sara Lee Coffee & Tea Foodservice, recently was honored by the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame as the “Sportsman of the Year.” Russo was singled out for his commitment and contributions to the Hall of Fame and for serving as a role model for others in the organization. Former Dodgers manager and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame Tommy Lasorda presented the award.

You may recall that a couple of years ago a group of our classmates, led by David Brackett, established a scholarship to honor one of our classmates Susan Hill Paolitto, who passed away in 1996. Thanks to the generosity of several of our classmates and her colleagues at Fidelity Investment’s Fixed Income Department, we raised $50,000 to permanently endow a scholarship.

The first scholarship recipient, Sarah Zehr, graduates this June after completing the four-quarter program. She was extremely active in Business With a Heart and co-chaired the toy drive and the charity auction and ball. She was also the community relations director for the Women’s Business Association and a steering committee member of Chicago’s Tax Assistance Program. Sarah recently accepted a position at The Chicago Public Education Fund. The Fund is a nonprofit organization that invests private capital in programs benefiting the Chicago Public Schools. As a reminder, our classmates can designate their annual gifts to the Susan Hill Paolitto Memorial Scholarship to honor Susan’s memory.

Set up a local area network in my home so I could netmeeting while on the phone all night with my Asian team. So? Well, while I was shopping for said equipment, I ran into Brad Schneider at CDW. He and Julie Dann Schneider are doing great, living in Bannockburn, Ill., with two children and Brad a partner in the Dann family insurance business.Tells me Jay Mellman and Dan Magill are both between jobs these days, enjoying their lives out West. Busy Brad still managed to find time to get back to Denver to catch some pre-season Broncos action.

OK, these notes are due and they’re tougher if I’m late, so my day is about to begin and I’ll need to send these. Will catch up with you all again around Christmas. Send those cards and letters.
