The Dallas-Fort Worth club has had a busy spring. On April 16, the Kellogg and Northwestern DFW alumni clubs held a “moveable feast” in Dallas’ Uptown area. It was a huge hit for the nearly 40 attendees, with plans to make it an annual event.
In April, Kellogg-DFW club leaders travelled to Chicago for Reunion Weekend where they accepted the 2011 Club Excellence Award, making it the third time the club has received this honor!
On May 9, a group of Kellogg/NU-DFW club members played in the Big Brothers Big Sisters annual Celebrity Golf Classic. Club President Matt Kurtz EMP-68, past club president Sean Lofgren ’01 and Northwestern alum Daniel Brauer ’11 represented the club in a fun golf scramble.
On May 15, the club hosted a private viewing of the documentary film “Waiting For Superman.” Attendees watching this powerful movie about the state of U.S. education also heard perspectives from the director of KIPP-Dallas/Fort Worth, one of the leading charter schools in the United States.
The Kellogg-DFW club also held a Kellogg Speaker Series/Kellogg Insight Live! event with Kellogg Professor Harry Kraemer Jr. on May 26. The event focused on Professor Kraemer’s overall leadership philosophy as well as his new book, From Values To Action: The Four Principles of Values Based Leadership. The Kellogg-DFW club also donated event proceeds to the One Acre Fund, a nonprofit organization founded by Andrew Youn ’06 that promotes economic growth in developing countries.
