Brazil alumni heard Paul Christensen speak about the U.S. real estate crisis

Submitted by Robert Foster ’04: The first half of 2011 featured unprecedented attendance and participation at club events. Professor Paul Christensen’s dinner talk on the U.S. real estate crisis, followed by a panel discussion by four local alumni experts, drew a record audience of 90, including Kellogg students on a Global Initiatives in Management trip and several Brazilian alumni.

In March, co-chair Eduardo Capocchi ’97 organized a career-transitions event in conjunction with Egon Zehnder International, with insightful workshops led by Kellogg alums who work as executive recruiters.

Professor John Ward broke bread with 20 alums at an informal May dinner in Sao Paulo and shared ideas on family business. Thanks to Christopher Koo ’09 for arranging the details.

Seventeen Brazilians (16 from the state of Sao Paulo) accepted Kellogg’s invitation for admission and are beginning work on their MBAs this summer and fall. We wish these students an unforgettable two years in Evanston as their concept of what constitutes cold weather rapidly evolves.

Finally, congratulations to club president William Kotas ’86, who was named Kellogg’s worldwide alumni volunteer of the year. If you would like to help us win the award for alumni club of the year, please get in touch! We will be reconstituting club leadership as scheduled this September when the current team celebrates the end of its two-year mandate.
