An assortment of Kellogg revelers participated in the 100th annual Bay to Breakers race on May 15 in San Francisco. The historic 12k is one of the world’s largest and oldest footraces. The name reflects the traditional course, which takes tens of thousands of participants from the northeast end of the downtown area near The Embarcadero (the “bay” side of the city) to the west end of the city and the “breakers” of Ocean Beach. Racers included Bryant Lee, Hema Khatri, Matt Ketchum, Dana Ginsburg and David Shreni.

David Silverman, wife Ana and daughter Molly (2) moved back to Boston after 3.5 years in Connecticut. Dave took a new job with Amphenol as general manager of Amphenol Alden Products, a producer of electrical components for the medical device market, with offices in Boston, Hermosillo, Mexico and Shenzhen, China. He notes that the family is enjoying being back on their home turf, and that they would welcome any visiting Kellogg folks who may be in Boston to drop them a line. If anyone wants a quick plant tour (in any of the three locations) please let Dave know!

Amy Roddy joined Pacific Drilling as director of investor relations in Houston. She is excited to work with this start-up, ultra-deepwater offshore drilling company and help them undertake an IPO later this year. She notes that the rest of 2011 is sure to be a whirlwind.

Beth Stevens updates that her move to San Francisco will be more permanent, since she passed the California bar exam on May 13. Additionally, she will be awarded, along with other members of the litigation team, the American Immigration Lawyer Association’s Jack Wasserman Memorial Award for excellence in litigation in the field of immigration law (say that five times fast) on June 18 for her work on the 2010 United States Supreme Court case, Padilla v. Kentucky. In that landmark decision, the Supreme Court held that the U.S. Constitution requires attorneys to inform non-citizens of the immigration consequences of their guilty pleas.

“Life continues here in D.C.,” writes Eben Roberts. “I spent three months in Qatar, where I engaged the Qatari government on anti-money laundering in an effort to build their capacity to combat threats from illicit finance. I was happy to return home to D.C., though, and see my wife and (much bigger) pup! No other big changes, but hopefully some to report in the next edition!”

Paul Renno and wife Trisha are back in San Francisco after living in Australia for six months. The pair, who have both worked at Bain for a few years, relocated to Sydney shortly after their wedding as part of Bain’s experience transfer program. Both are glad to be back in the U.S., where movie tickets are far less than Australia’s $18 per person.

While a few people are returning to the U.S. after stints abroad, others have recently embarked on ex-patriot adventures. Louisa Sadler writes that she and boyfriend Michael moved to London from Seattle in April, taking transfers with Starbucks and Microsoft, respectively. They are loving life in the UK, and, despite not managing to wrangle invitations to the royal wedding, Louisa noted that they were able to partake in some of partying that took place in London that weekend. Louisa and Michael are looking forward to having lots of Kellogg visitors.

Frank Kumpuris moved to London (it’s the new San Francisco!) in July from McKinsey’s New York office. Frank looks forward to sharing a pint with Louisa and Michael at the local pub.

Greg Borel set sail for the Azores from Miami Beach in early May, and has safely made another Atlantic passage. This Atlantic Ocean passage combines his love of sailing with his love of free diving (there is excellent free-diving in the Azores, in case you are planning a trip). If you read French, or are willing to use Google Translate, you can follow his adventures at debidelo.wordpress.com/.

Carolina Patino also loves diving, but didn’t go to quite the same extreme (although it was pretty extreme!). She writes: “Rick and I seriously needed a two-week break from our now 21-month-old, and we figured Belize and Guatemala offered the perfect blend of adventure. We left Daniela with her grandparents in Miami and set out on an action-packed trip focused on diving, cave tubing, zip lining, and hiking to waterfalls. Highlights of the trip including diving the famous Blue Hole in Belize, where we reached depths of 140 feet amidst stalagmites, stalactites and reef sharks; visiting red boobie birds at Half Moon Caye; and hiking into the cave at Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), also known as Xibalba. To get to the main ceremonial cavern was a feat. We waded through a shoulder-high river and climbed rocks upon rocks throughout the cave. Rick and I both felt like Indiana Jones on our last crusade! Among the skeletons in the main ceremonial cave was the famed ‘Crystal Maiden,’ a perfectly intact skeleton of a sacrificed teenage girl whose bones have been completely calcified into the bedrock of the cave.

“After exploring two weeks communing with nature, Rick and I returned to the U.S. with several mosquito bites as souvenirs. We have been thrilled to return to the modern world and have especially appreciated the comforts of air conditioning and electricity. And of course we were thrilled to see Daniela, our three feet of awesome!”

Ben Munoz began to pursue a medical degree in Austin. By night, Ben and Scott Orn continue to grow their network of online patient communities through BensFriends.org, which is poised to pass 10,000 members. I thought medical school was kind of a 24/7 thing, but Ben is somehow finding time to pursue an additional degree as well as to continue supporting the growing online community he founded a few years ago. In April, Ben’s Friends was featured on the Kellogg SEEK homepage. Scott and Ben would love you to email them at scottorn@bensfriends.org or ben@bensfriends.org for more information or to get involved.

“I have enjoyed following the Class of 2007 through these notes, so just wanted to say hi to everyone, especially the Cash Cows,” notes Bikram Kapoor. “The post-Kellogg years have been very eventful – first Lehman Brothers, then Barclays Capital, and finally Nomura Securities for the past year. I am still in New York and cover technology stocks on the U.S. Cash Equities trading desk. I enjoy the role a lot, as I can finally put my pre-b-school experience to use (in addition to everything I learned at Kellogg, of course!). We live in Manhattan. The kids love it here, and my wife’s office is literally right across the street. As always, would love to get together with fellow alums, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch through the alumni directory.”

Chas Carol is excited to report that he has left Reckitt Benckiser and accepted a job at Mead Johnson Nutrition as brand manager for infant feeding solutions. Mead Johnson is based in Glenview, Ill., so Amanda Carol ’06, Emmaline and Chas relocated to Deerfield, Ill., in June. They enjoy reconnecting with all their Chicagoland friends and taking in a few performances at Ravinia.

Greg Yeadon wed Katie Okla on April 23 in a beautiful ceremony in Mystic, Conn. The happy couple shared their special day with a crowd of friends from Kellogg, including groomsmen Denny Powell and Jamil Hossain, Andrew Miller, Jill Zeldin, Doug Scott, Josh Rider, Wilson Owens, Dave Sweeney, Scott Orn, David Hegarty, Jay Choi, Beth Stevens and Ziv Bendor.

Neha Patel married John Palmer ’08 in San Francisco on May 14 at the Bently Reserve. A true Kellogg wedding, the happy couple celebrated their nuptials with Deidre (Stoken) McClurg, Mike McClurg, Anye Roth Deana, Serg Deana, Amish Gupta, Frank Kumpuris, Beth Stevens, James Hoak, Laura Kreitler ’08, Jamie Dmitri ’08, Vamsi Yadlipati ’08, James Buford ’08, Seth Benson ’08, Boaz Shedletsky ’08, Sean Eddy ’05 and Dan Joss ’05.

“Hello from the Greek Isles,” started a note I received from Caryn Zieses just before press time. Caryn was writing from her honeymoon, having wed Evan Levine on May 29. Caryn and Evan tied the knot at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park in Long Island, N.Y. Evan is a 2003 graduate of Northwestern (go Cats!) and the pair live on the Upper West Side with their dog Shayna. Evan is a vice president at Citigroup and Caryn is a senior associate in the health and life sciences consulting division at Oliver Wyman. After a week in Greece, they were headed for the Maldives. One word for my reaction: Jealous!

Kim (Hickey) Desai and Ashish Desai welcomed Alex Rohan Desai on Dec. 1. He came into the world weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces and with a full head of hair. They note, “We are loving our new addition and are fortunate to have a built-in playgroup of Kellogg babies, with the Mudds and Campbells nearby.” The Desais live in San Francisco, where Kim is a brand manager at Clorox and Ashish is a director at Tiny Prints.

Jonah P. Kittredge was born on Groundhog’s Day and weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Proud parents Lebbonee (Price) Kittredge and Tad Kittredge ’06 write that he’s a lot of work but that they are up for the challenge. The Kittredge family lives in San Francisco, where Lebbonee works at Walmart.com and Tad works at Clorox.

Matt Cosman, his wife Emily and big brother Will are excited to announce the arrival of Abigail Elizabeth on March 2. Abigail tipped the scale at 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. Everyone is happy and well, and the Cosmans are enjoying living in Hingham, Mass., which is where Matt and Emily grew up.

Owen Guang Jie Lee was born at 9:24 p.m. on March 10 with 10 perfect fingers and 10 perfect toes. Bryant Lee writes: “I may be a bit biased, but he could not be more perfect. Both mom and the 20.5 inches, 8 pound 5 ounce bundle of joy are healthy, happy and doing well. Mary was an absolute superstar. I am completely in awe and having a hard time wiping the goofy grin off of my face.” The Lee family lives in San Francisco among the bazillion other Kellogg ‘07 alums (not a scientific term, but fairly close to the truth).

“My wife Leslie and I were blessed by the arrival of our first child on March 29,” writes Todd Melby. “His name is Arne (Arn-ee) after his grandfather and great-grandfather. He doesn’t have a middle name in the tradition of his dad’s side of the family. Arne was born at 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and is quickly moving on up. We are thrilled to have him as he is an absolute joy.

“And on a professional note, Precision BioSciences, which so many classmates helped me with while in school, turned five years old in January.”

On April 9, Diana Lee Tsai ’06 and Roger Tsai welcomed their son Spencer into the world. The little guy took his time during the 36-hour labor, but both mom and baby are happy and healthy. Roger writes, “The last few months have been tiring, yet tremendously rewarding (kind of like Kellogg :)), and we look forward to playdates with all the other new Kellogg babies in the Bay Area!”

Bryan Kenna writes: “Kirsten and I had our second child, Barrett Ansley Kenna, on April 19, nearly two weeks early. Everyone is happy and healthy, and Walker (2) is amazing with his new little sister.”

“On a different note, Kirsten and I spent a long weekend in Puerto Rico in February before Baby No. 2 was due, and we randomly ran into Chris Toepke and Lauren doing the same thing before their twins arrived. Needless to say, Chris and I celebrated with a steady stream of mojitos by the pool.” The Kennas live in Atlanta.

Lyndsi (Caracciolo) Lee ’08 and John Lee welcomed their first child, Ethan, on April 27. The Lees live in Chicago, where Lyndsi is a project leader at BCG and John is in operational strategy for Walgreens.

Dustin Marshall updates: “My wife Denise delivered our third child, Hailey Grace, on May 14. Hailey is doing well and was welcomed home by brother Jackson Garrett (2) and sister Lilianna Hazel (4). In August, I will be leaving Bain and the family will be moving from Chicago to Dallas, where I will take over the management of our family business, an expedited freight company called Hazel’s Hot Shots.”

Kellogg was well represented at the wedding of Caryn Zieses ’07 and Evan Levine on May 29. Alumni in attendance included (from left) Andrew Miller ’07, Jill Zeldin’07, Ana Lilienfeld ’86, Joshua Mandel ’07,

Evan Levine (NU ’03), Caryn Zieses Levine ’07, Jennifer Splansky ’07, Jodie Zimmerman Frenkiel ’08, Stuart Frenkiel ’08 and Ron Tamir ’07
