I’ve been browsing my Kindle recently (not quite the same as strolling the book aisles, but living in Argentina without a solid English bookstore, it will have to do) and Bossypants by Tina Fey came up as an Amazon recommendation. Hmmmm …. bossypants? Compliment? Snide remark? To be taken personally? (I’ll take it personally just so I can say a renowned authority associates me with Fey.) Regardless, what most caught my attention (in the reviews of course, because I haven’t ponied up the cash yet) is that she ends her piece debating whether to have a (second) child in the midst of her successful career. A dilemma many a Kellogg woman has faced — and, by the looks of this issue’s news, a challenge many a fellow alumna has embraced. So, to all you bossypants out there, taking on motherhood in the midst of your careers, a toast to you! (Ah yes, dads, congrats as well!)

Alison (Curd) Lowery has beaten Fey to the punch, having already taken on baby No. 2: “The Lowerys have expanded their family again and dad is now outnumbered three girls to one. On May 7, we welcomed Avalon Alison Lowery into the world. She weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. She shares her birthday with her mom! Big sister Calista is excited to have a real baby to play with now. We love San Diego and the 60+ degrees it offers year round. I continue to enjoy my job managing the finance organization at Life Technologies, which supports the company’s 25 manufacturing sites worldwide.”

Putney Cloos and Brian Fox are thrilled to share that Eliot George Wilmot Fox was born on March 27 in New York City. Both are still at McKinsey, where Brian focuses on healthcare and Putney on consumer packaged goods. They live on the Upper West Side, just 10 blocks south of our dear Kellogg friends Kate (Farrell) and James Stanford.

Jen (Collins) Moore also has two babies — her son Harry and her new venture, Meez Meals. She writes: “I’m still in Chicago and enjoying life with Pete and son Harry (1). I left the world of brand management last year to start my own venture — Meez Meals, a service that makes it easier to cook dinner at home. Lots of work, but lots of fun to see it taking off.” I hopped onto her website (meezmeals.com) to see what’s cookin’. Lemon risotto? Ceviche tacos? Meez likes!

Count on London for the strongest inorganic (alums moving there) and organic (alum families expanding) growth this year.

David Mayer writes, “Tanvi Gokhale (Patel) is a proud mum of beautiful baby Annika, I’m about three weeks away from becoming a dad .... help! And Darren Makarem continues to live the Right Said Fred playboy lifestyle ..... plus ça change!”

Serge Raffard and family (Anne, Alban, Victor and Diane) have enjoyed discovering Asia since moving to Hong Kong over Christmas.

After four and a half years with General Motors, Qi Linda Jing moved into the agriculture world, joining Monsanto in 2009. Commenting on her recent business/leisure trip to France: “My No.1 reason why I never enjoyed cheese and wine before? Simply not in the right place!” She notes that while she had great times traveling in Provence, Cote d’Azur and Paris after working Lyon, the highlight of her trip was meeting up with Gilles Nougier ‘05 in front of the pyramid at the Louvre. Per Linda, the two had a delightful catch-up at a cozy cafe by the Louvre, recalling their “conversations on China-France relations while eating Kellogg pizza in the Atrium!” From cold pizza in the Atrium to café au lait Louvre-side. My, how far we’ve come!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes! Lilly (Liu) Minkove writes of just a few of them: “We moved from Manhattan to the D.C. area last year when Eric Minkove took over BestPractices, one of his private equity firm’s portfolio companies based in Virginia. I also changed jobs and work for Louis Vuitton as director of stores for the Mid-Atlantic area. If that was not enough change, I gave birth to our baby boy Sebastian in December. So, 2010 was a big year! Recently, Eric sold BestPractices to EmCare, a larger physician-services provider for emergency departments. He is managing the business as a division of EmCare.”
