The Kellogg Alumni Club of Orange County held its first-ever golf tournament March 13 at Arroyo Trabuco in Mission Viejo, Calif. Five groups of Kellogg alumni, as well as a Northwestern graduate and PIMCO employees, took part in a fun fundraiser to help the club with future programming. We had tremendous support from a wide range of alums from Los Angeles to San Diego, including several who didn’t golf but provided sponsorships and donations. Our prizes included a high-end home improvement set, a fancy name-brand watch, the hottest new video game kit out and sweet Kellogg polo shirts for the winning team.

The scramble format balanced the golfing talent, but one team stood above the rest. Congratulations go to Charlie Lee ’97, his wife Hiq, and Joe Block, a Northwestern University PhD, with a ‘best ball’ score of 59! Also, congrats to our skills contest winners — Scott Kratzer ’93 for longest drive (325 yards!), Falko Kloepper ’06 for longest putt, and Bo Sandine ’03 for closest to the pin!
Due to the efforts of many, we reached our goal of building a $1,000 bank account for the club. Eric Johnson ’01 was my co-lead for the tournament and he delivered in every way. We had to regroup and reschedule due to poor weather and Eric stepped up to recruit the largest chunk of participants for this fundraiser. Kylie Choy ’09, Lyndon Elam ’01, Matthew Posner ’04 and Jim McGinnis ’91 contributed prizes from their respective companies. Our club’s mentors, Carol Falstrup ’89 and Lori Samuels’86, donated checks to the cause. Sarah Roach, our savior from Kellogg Alumni Relations on the West Coast, brought Kellogg shirts for the winners. Thanks to all of their help, we did it!
Please keep your eyes on our club website (kelloggalumni.northwestern.edu/clubs/kacoc) for upcoming activities and be sure to update your contact information for our club e-mails. We are a charter member of OCMBA, an active group of alumni clubs from top-tier and SoCal business schools. As part of that group, we take part in networking happy hours every two months, which typically draw about 75 MBAs. If you would like to help with club planning and events, please contact me at msandine2003@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
