At our 25-year Reunion, Mary Anne (Hoyt) Poatsy asked me to take over as class representative. I accepted and now join my father (Richard J. Damisch’50, EMP-2) in the Class Notes section of Kellogg World. Like my dad, I liked Northwestern so much that I went to it twice.

I want to thank Mary Anne for being our class representative for the last 25 years. She has done a grand job of keeping our class up to date and informed. Mary Anne writes: “Thanks so much for letting me be your representative for the past 25 years. I have enjoyed hearing from you, and then reporting your news back to everyone else. It’s been a fun job, and not a task. However, I have truly run my course, and I think we all will be in great hands with Rich’s fine skills. He’s a great communicator and networker, and I know he’ll do a terrific job. But, he’ll need your help, so make sure you continue to send him your bits of news, no matter how small! Please don’t take me off your contact lists. Just because I’m not the class rep, doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear from you. See you all at our 30th Reunion, or before if and when our paths cross. Thanks again.”

The Reunion was a blast and a great chance to catch up with old Kellogg staff, including Ed Wilson, Kelly LaPorte, Steven DeKrey and former Dean Dipak Jain.

People came from near and far to catch up with longtime friends and associates.

Sanjay Shroff traveled all the way from Bangalore.

Speaking of Kellogg being a lifelong relationship, many couples who started at Kellogg are still together today: the Poatsys (Mary Anne Hoyt and Ted Poatsy); the Pearlmans (Mary O’Brien and Greg); the Whislers (Judy Cornfeld and Bill); the Goodmans (Diane Hayes and Marc); the Reeds (Gretchen Lux and Henry); the Jenkins (Lisa Scott and Scott) and the Roterings (Nancy Rodkin and Rob).

Continuing what I call the Kellogg Circle of Life, Vimal Bahuguna’s daughter graduated from Kellogg in the spring of 2009. Eric Robbins brought his 4-month-old son (and possible future Kellogg alum).

The Pearlmans hosted a Friday-night reception at their beautiful house in Wilmette, Ill. (just a few miles north of the Evanston).

Keith Bank hosted a Friday-night reception for the 4Q aka 1Y (1-year) Class of 1985 alums at his house in Highland Park, Ill.

The Saturday night party was held at Fulton’s on the River in downtown Chicago.

Other attendees I ran into over the weekend included Salman Amin, Victoria Anstead, Francisco Arellano, Vimal Bahuguna, Renee Betzelos,Cheryl Dancey Balough, Barbara Krimsky Binder, Andy Birol, Emily Gale Birovsky, Mary Lee Gold Broder, Maureen Collins, Patrick Corrigan, Kevin Crook, Chris Day, John Dell’Erario, Julie Brueggeman Dreyer, Hentry Dubois, Ray Felson, Greg French, Michael Gardner, Amanda Gimble, Diane Hayes Goodman, Jim Harris, Karen Lurie Isaacson, Greg Kameika, Tom Kamp, Gerry Komlofske, Pat McGarvey, Rebecca Mechanik, Julie Updegraff Mikols, Andy Mills, Ed Nemeth, Dave Novosel, Mike Nunan, Peter Office, Denis Rodis Prose, Lynn Refer, Kathy Reilly, Paula Hays Rhea, Spiro Rombotis, Lance Rosenzweig, Jeff Rubin, Dave Schanzer, Ron Stover, David Studenmund, Gina Villanueva-Weinzierl, Ken Weiner, Bill Whisler and Jim Whiteside.

Apologies to anyone from our class who at the Reunion and was not mentioned above. I hope to get to know everyone from the Class of 1985 during my tenure as class rep.

Note that there are now Facebook and LinkedIn Groups specifically for the Kellogg Class of 1985. These are really good venues for social networking, and for getting in touch and staying in touch with people you haven’t talked to in 25 years. You should also sign up for the online Kellogg Alumni directory by going to the website: alumni.kellogg.northwestern.edu.

Please keep those cards, letters and e-mails coming.
