Leo Power, Andy Hariman, Dan Ouimet and Darren Karasiuk have taken their promise to "keep in touch" seriously. Each year since graduation, this group of friends has organized their reunion around a challenging race. Beginning with the 2005 Great Wall Marathon in Beijing, China, they have gotten together over the past four years to compete together in other races such as the 2006 Ironman race in Nice, France; the 2007 Ironman race in Newfoundland, Canada, and the 2008 Ironman race in Muskoka, Canada. However, their greatest undertaking to date took place this year with the 2009 24th annual Marathon des Sables in Morocco (MDS). Thought to be the toughest footrace of all, the Marathon des Sables covers 243 km/151 miles and lasts six days. It is the equivalent of five and a half regular marathons combined. In addition to running this great distance, competitors have to carry everything they will need for the duration of this six-day race on their backs! Andy Hariman puts it: "Having struggled with the 10-kilometer race in 2005 and now completing a few Ironmans and the MDS within the last four years is really a testament to the strong and supportive friendships I have made, not athleticism!"
