While Feb. 14 is usually associated with a chubby cupid, cheap, heart-shaped boxes of chocolate and last-minute "I was thinking of you" flowers purchased from the corner grocery store, Valentine's Day 2009 was an exception. Laura Karam married Dan Pierce in Oaxaca, Mexico, where close family and friends celebrated in style. After an introductory parade through the streets of Oaxaca, following two 20-foot tall puppets that (kind of) resembled the happy couple if they were the size of King Kong, a Kellogg TG reunion took place at a NAFTA party in the small town's art museum. Grasshopper appetizers were downed in earnest, while the sheer volume of flaming shots to celebrate the gathering almost took down the wrestling ring (fortunately no lubed wrestlers were present). The party continued the next day, where guests effectively turned a beautiful five-star Mexican garden into an amazing carnival, complete with dancers atop stilts, a sea of Guayaberas, too much mezcal and a triumphant return to the stage by Dean Jain's Addiction, who performed a Bon Jovi crowd favorite. Congratulations to Laura and Dan!
Daniel Fleming and Leah Fleming are proud to announce the birth of their son, Dylan Evan Fleming. Dylan was born in Evanston on Oct. 14.
Brandon Meigs writes: "Kysa and I, along with big sister Madeline, are happy to announce the latest addition to our family, Lauren Rachelle Meigs. Lauren was born on May 6. Both mom and baby are healthy, and Madeline is very excited to have a new friend to play with!"
Joe Harmon writes: "Casey and I are thrilled to say that Ariana Saige Harmon was born Easter Sunday April 12 in Warsaw, Ind. Ariana is our first and she is the first grandchild for Casey's parents. Ariana measured 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 20.5 inches on her big day. Life has changed, but definitely in an amazingly positive way."
Tom Nishino writes: "Raymond Fecteau of the Buckets came over to Tokyo for 10 days in February with his girlfriend. It was really fun. We went to a lot of places together, and he got a taste of local hospitality with a stay at my wife's parents' house. He really enjoyed Kyoto, the ancient capital city."
Lax Madapaty visited Jochen Gottschalk in Germany. They enjoyed Bavarian brew by the River Isar near Munich and ruminated over the good times at Kellogg.
Aubrey Cattell writes: "Cindy and I, along with Thatcher and (relatively) new addition Finley, thought we'd send a brief update. We moved from Boulder, Colo., back to the Bay Area last summer to be nearer family and so that I could join design software-maker Autodesk in a business-development role. Finley arrived in September and is a bundle of love. Thatcher is dazzling us with his newfound vocabulary, Cindy continues to thrive as CEO/CFO/COO of Cattell Corporation, and I'm starting a new job leading product management for Autodesk's SaaS offerings. Otherwise, we're looking forward to long trips this summer to both Lake Tahoe and Lake Placid. For anyone living here or passing through, our place is out by Berkeley and I work in downtown San Francisco. Look us up!" |
