2003
— Full-Time
Whew. What a beginning to 2009. We know that it has been an interesting first-half of the year for most people and we are very grateful to everyone who forwarded their updates. It's great to see how wonderfully our fellow classmates are doing. We are still finding time to bring future Kelloggians into the world, change jobs, meet up with old friends and travel the world.

Please enjoy this update and have a wonderful summer! We were truly lucky to be part of such a fantastic class at Kellogg!
As always, if you have any thoughts or updates for our next issue, please e-mail us.
Kellogg Class of 2036…here we come!
Congratulations to Paolo Cuomo and Alessia who welcomed Tommaso Carlo Cuomo into the world on April 24.
Leti and Mandy Pearman-Taft are finding themselves a little sleep-deprived, although glowing, after the birth of their beautiful son, Toby Charles Taft-Pearman, born April 22.
On April 10, Anne (Ankle) Engelking Smith and her husband, Ashley, welcomed the next Special K! star into the world. Mackey Elizabeth Smith has taken the stage in her starring role, showing she can excel in both dramatic as well as comic roles, with a flair for funny faces. When not performing, Mackey likes to swing in her chair, ride in the stroller and, of course, EAT! Anne and Ashley are looking forward to a great summer in Dallas while Anne is on maternity leave from Frito Lay, and Ashley, a professor of theatre at Southern Methodist University, is on summer break.
Kelly (Hetherington) Huntington and her husband, Greg, welcomed their first born, Collin Andrew, on May 3. Kelly is enjoying some time with her cutie while she's on maternity leave. Kelly reports that she is still with AES, a global power company based in Arlington, Va. (where she's been since Kellogg!). Although she has switched jobs a number of times, she is serving as vice president of financial planning and analysis, after roles in risk management, investor relations, forecasting and as chief of staff to the CEO.
Ajay Chawan and his wife, Britta Watters, joined the ranks of Kellogg parents this May. On May 6, they welcomed their son, Jaideep Reed Chawan, into the world. Jaideep, a Hindi name connoting "victory," arrived at a svelte 7 pounds and 21 inches long. Britta (aka Mom) and Jaideep are doing great. Ajay wishes he lived closer to his Kellogg friends so they can have playdates during which they could discuss finance, economics and the newest iPhone.
Ajay also is pleased to report that his business is continuing to move forward. He is shifting to a B2C model and is planning to launch his first wave of consumer products in the third quarter of this year. When he is not being a father, husband, housekeeper, cook, landscaper and aspiring entrepreneur, Ajay is continuing to train for triathlons. He completed his second sprint triathalon over Memorial Day weekend, beating his 2008 time by six minutes. Not bad for a sleep-challenged new father!!
Dan and Kim Swanson had their second baby on March 3, a girl named Piper Elizabeth. She comments, "We have been in Seattle now for three years and I'm still in marketing at T-Mobile. We love being in the Northwest again!"
And the beat goes on…The Toth clan: Edit and Attila Toth settled in their new home in Washington D.C., with a guest room open for Kellogg friends. Attila is relentlessly spreading the renewable energy gospel at SunEdison, a fast-growing solar company. As head of marketing, he leads the development of clean energy solutions tailored to customers in the commercial, utility, REIT and government sectors. Edit is enjoying (mostly) every minute of being an awesome mom to mischievous daughters Izabell and Olivia (2).
Elena Dobinda moved from Chicago to Deerfield Beach, Fla., where daughter Magdalena can pursue her dream of becoming a tennis professional at a full-time tennis academy. Elena currently works as a chief audit executive for a public insurance company, enjoys the Floridian weather and is building her Kellogg network in Florida.
Congratulations to Priti Choksi, who left Google after an amazing journey over five and a half years, to take on a leadership position in Facebook's business development team.
Gerry Gilligan moved to Austin, Texas, to take on a new product marketing role with St. Jude Medical. Congratulations, Gerry!
Thomas Poppe and Kasper Leschly are still trucking along in China on high heels; 90 shops in 30 cities sounds cool, but also tricky to convert red figures into black ones …. thus still a lot of work, especially for someone who left consulting because of the hours (smart!). However, seeing pretty women wearing your own product is not a bad feeling. For those of you curious (or shoe-addicted), check: dfuse.com.cn or come visit. Both are residing in Beijing, which has turned near-to-normal after the Olympics.
Esan Gharet Ebner (5 months) and Joshua Pomerenk (9 months) got their first chance to discuss Notre Dame football, KOAs, and GIM trips over Memorial Day when Trisha and Joel Pomerenk '04 paid a quick visit to Suganthi and Mike Ebner's house in Atlanta. Both boys are looking forward to meeting more of the Kellogg crowd in the near future. Parenthood seems to be treating both couples very well.
In April, Tindley Whipple Gilbert, Huw and Pryor enjoyed their first family vacation (without either of their families, a by-product of moving to N.Y., where neither of our families live). Between swimming, eating, playing and sleeping, they managed to get in a significant amount of Sesame Street time with the crew at the Beaches Resort. As Colby Maher stated, isn't it amazing that we now schedule our vacations at locations that have Sesame Street characters onsite?
Sriram Jambunathan reports that he is still with McKinsey & Company as an associate principal in the Mumbai office. Sriram and his wife, Sangita, have a 9-month-old baby, Dhwani. Congratulations!
Thank you again to everyone who forwarded updates. Please have a great summer and get ready to send in your updates for the next Kellogg World edition! All the best. |
