1996 — Full-Time

Melanie Robins Levcovich just switched jobs to work with a family investment office called Levrob Holdings. She is helping out a nonprofit called Project Give Back that is teaching philanthropy to elementary school students and showing kids how to find their passion and feel the reward of helping others.

Rob Herman writes with an update: "I joined Gries Financial, in Cleveland, as managing director. The assets of Logix Group, the firm I previously ran, were acquired by Gries Financial shortly after I came on board. I'm enjoying the new role. More importantly, my twin boys Eli and Gabriel (5 months) are great. Eli is always giggling. It takes a bit more work to get stoic Gabriel smiling. My wife Valerie and I are starting to get some sleep. All parenting tips always welcome."

After a few years of part-time consulting work in the U.K. and U.S., Parveen Ali Werner decided it was time to go back to work full-time. She accepted a position as marketing director for North America at a $4.5 billion chocolatier called Barry Callebaut. Not only is she in charge of marketing, but gladly accepts responsibility for two of their 11 worldwide chocolate academies. Although she misses her four children — Garrett (8), Sophia (6), Francesca (4) and Vaughn (1) — during the day, she is excited about the new challenges.

Caroline Carey and husband Jim Langan started a local newspaper in April. Their paper, the Hudson Valley News, is based in Hyde Park, with a circulation and distribution focusing on Dutchess and Putnam Counties in New York. Caroline is serving as publisher while Jim is executive editor.

Tony Turjoman met up with John Glushik and Robyn Runyan Glushik while in the Triangle (N.C.) for business in March. They bypassed the traditional North Carolina barbeque in favor of the famous North Carolina sushi. Baby Evan Glushik (6 months) enjoyed sitting in on the discussion.

Ericka and Michael Arbour and Kurt Plumer surprised David Stokes for his 40th birthday celebration in April. After a quick round of golf and a few minutes of quality time with the Stokes kids, the group, along with other Stokes ,friends and family, took Dave's ultimate party bus to a Cardinals/Cubs baseball game. After a thrilling Cardinals victory, the group returned to the Stokes' home, followed by a late-night trip to the casino boats in St. Louis. A great time was had by all.

Stephen Hiscott hosted the annual golf trip for a group from the Class of 1996 at a family house in the North Carolina mountains. Andy Andress took home the long-drive trophy (barely passing Don Raftery with his wicked hockey swing) and Nick Reynolds won the longest drive contest, believing that the most efficient travel from Chicago was a 12-hour drive in his mini convertible. The group was also joined by Peter Schmitz, David Kniffin and Gary Ferrera. Plans are underway for destinations for next year, so let us know who's in by contacting hiscotts@gmail.com. Seventy-two holes in 48 hours. It just makes sense!
