Hello all! We had a great 15th Reunion in Evanston. The weather couldn't have been nicer as members of our class and other Kellogg classes got together for events in both Evanston and Chicago. The attendance was great and many returned either solo or with families and significant others in tow. I had a great time and hope everyone who could make it did too. Thanks to all of the Reunion committee members and to Kellogg for planning and coordinating the Reunion. For those of you unable to make it, you were missed.
A lot of class news was captured in our class book as part of Reunion. Check it out on the Kellogg alumni page. For those who didn't have a chance to submit an update, please send it along to me and I'll include news next time around.
Before going to our Kellogg reunion, I was in Durham, N.C., for my Duke reunion. It felt like Kellogg central there, and I caught up with Jeff Cooper, Bruce and Alycia Angus, Scott Young and Rose Klein. I also briefly saw Chris Stahl and Jamie Freundlich. Jeff has been in the D.C. area since Kellogg and lives in Arlington, Va., with his wife and twins. Scott and Rose are in New York with their two kids. Scott continues to run Perception Research Services, his family business that he joined out of Kellogg. Bruce and Alycia live in Connecticut with their two daughters. Together they run their own business, kids-u, a child-focused campus with locations mostly around Connecticut. They had the chance to visit Kathryn (Underberg) Zimmerman, her husband Eric and their daughters in the D.C. area.
Here are some tidbits gathered from Reunion weekend. In addition to official Reunion events and numerous other get-togethers, MB Barron, Ana Claudia Dutra, Laura McKee and Kate Kustermann-Rivera hosted a Kellogg '94 Women's Drinks in the City party which I hear was lively and fun and may be repeated before the next Reunion. With the exception of Kate who is living in Paris, all the hostesses live in the Chicago area.
I really enjoyed catching up with fellow sectionmate Eric Harris, who came in from New York. Eric spent the first 10 years or so out of Kellogg in investment banking with Merrill Lynch. Several years ago he went out on his own and started a creative Web agency, 6th Floor Developers. It was quite a switch from banker to entrepreneur and Eric is very happy running his firm that focuses on digital strategy and the design and development of Web sites. Eric's first client was Sean "Diddy" Combs. Milt Liu was able to squeeze in part of the reunion on his way back home from India. Milt and Kathleen Miller Liu and their three boys live outside of Minneapolis and Milt leads Target India. Scott Peterson, his wife Katie and daughter Merit, will be returning to the Twin Cities later this summer. They have been in London and after traveling for nine weeks around Europe, they plan to arrive back in the United States in style on the Queen Mary.
In other news, belated congratulations go to Ryan Ruskin and his partner Mike Andrews '02, who married legally in Whistler, British Columbia, in February 2008. They also had a wedding at home in Chicago on Sept. 27 at Saint James Episcopal Cathedral and the University Club. A lot of Kellogg alums joined in the celebration, including classmates Susie Silver, Keith Kaplan, Art Kessler, Doug and Sue Warshauer, Paul Brown, Ben Grisemer, Jeff Marsh, Andrew Strasser and Pete D'Arrigo. Mike's classmates from the Class of 2002 included Evan Houtrides, Peter Willmert, Kirby Shimko, Michelle Lev, Todd Hjermstad and Dan O'Leary. Scott Whitaker '97, John Podjasek '93, Mark Cozzi '92 and Rosalyn Kemp '08 also attended. Mike is a finance manager at Pepsico in Chicago and Ryan continues to lead The Ruskin Group, a full-service paper, box and packaging supply company headquartered in Pittsburgh but with principal operations based in Chicago and locations throughout North America.
Eric Logan changed jobs. He was named the CFO of Eagle Golf, a golf course management company based in Dallas. He was CFO of Adams Golf, a manufacturer of golf equipment based in Plano, Texas.
That is all I have for now. Check out the class book for lots of updates and send along any news or updates you have, especially if you were unable to make Reunion. |
