The
KBAC got off to a very strong start in 2008, continuing to
strive toward being the model alumni organization for the
Kellogg community. More than 100 alums from across the country
gathered at the James L. Allen Center this spring for the
21st Annual Kellogg Black Management Association Conference.
The three-day extravaganza reconnected alumni at sold-out
events throughout the weekend. This year's conference theme,
"The Defining Moment: Understanding the Power of Collaboration
to Effect Change," reminded alumni that we all have an
integral role to play in bringing about change in our communities
and our lives.
The
winter months also featured other successful social gatherings
in Chicago and New York, such as the Minority Admit Receptions
and alumni networking events. More recently, the organization
hosted its first Reunion Weekend reception. Members of our
leadership team joined alums and their families for lunch
during the Reunion barbecue. Alumni had the opportunity to
interact with our team and hear updates on the club's progress
and its upcoming initiatives.
As
the Kellogg Black Alumni Club turns its focus to spring and
summer activities, its goal is to continue providing quality
events for its members, support the Black student population's
efforts and ensure our organization's future. This summer,
alums can expect more of quality programming, including the
Summer in the City event, the annual Soul Brunch, joint events
with Black alumni clubs of other schools, as well as community
service and professional development and networking events.
The
club's primary priority continues to be developing its membership
base, with a focus on integrating seasoned alums into our
planning and activities. The organization's success is directly
tied to the strength of its membership. To assist with this
initiative, the KBAC is pleased to announce the newest members
of its leadership team, Danielle Robinson '07 and
Troy Williams '01. Danielle joins the organization
as a director of membership to help bolster our efforts to
reach out to alumni, while Troy is our new southeast regional
director, helping the organization extend its reach in the
greater Atlanta area and further integrating Black alumni
in the region.
Finally,
the KBAC has expanded its networking efforts through its communities
on LinkedIn and Facebook. You can find the links to join both
of these networks on the KBAC Web site: kelloggalumni.northwestern.edu/Affinity/bma.
We continue to seek feedback from our members and welcome
alumni to provide comments on the "Contact Us" page
of our Web site.
