1999
— Full-Time There's
so much news to report on the Class of '99 front, so I'll
just jump right in!
Kristi
Leonard Brandt writes: "My husband, Scott, and I
recently welcomed our third child, Stephen, to our growing
family. Though Scott's trading firm still operates in Chicago,
we now live on the beach in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. A far cry
from downtown Chicago, we are enjoying the weather and beach
immensly. Do wish there were some Kellogg alumns near by though!"
Wynne
Kwee and husband Cheuk are living in San Francisco, enjoying
the weather and a laid-back lifestyle. Wynee left her marketing
job a couple years ago and went back to school for interior
design. She works at a firm that specializes in hospitality
design and is having a blast!

Last
year was also a fruitful year for traveling. Wynee and Cheuk
went to Hawaii, the Big Island, to check out the volcano and
lava. They also flew to Hong Kong and India to visit friends
and attend a wedding. And in December, Wynee traveled to South
America to visit Easter Island and finally step foot on the
Antarctica, her seventh continent!
Raghu
Shankar has moved to Austin, Texas, after a four-year
stint in Bangalore, India. His two sons (6 and 8) are adjusting
well and enjoying the new school system.
Aaron
Salamon started a job at Endo Pharmaceuticals in December.
He is a segment market research manager there. He moved from
Indiana to Pennsylvania and his wife and daughter were planning
to arrive in June.
Vince
and Sarah (Ouchi) Tsai have three boys, Ethan (6),
Ryan (4), and Dylan (1). Between the karate lessons, art classes
and golf, tennis and baseball practices, Sarah is still working
with Stacy Sukov Blackman's company doing MBA admissions
consulting. After more than four years at Yahoo!, Vince finally
made the move to a smaller company. He joined Reach Local,
where he is now vice president of marketplace operations,
playing both a product development and business operations
role. Despite the initial shock of being in a small company
("What? I have to figure out how to program my Blackberry
by myself?"), he is loving it. Vince and Sarah helped
Jean Lee celebrate her birthday with a cooking class/dinner
in L.A.
Rob
(Tyler) Marcolina has returned to L.A. after spending
almost two years back home in Australia. He said it was a
tough decision to move back to the U.S., after some wonderful
times reconnecting with family and friends. He and husband
Kirk are busy raising their daughter, Sophie, who continues
to amaze them every day.
Gary
Krieger and Tracie Ledsky Krieger '00 leveraged their
competencies in family building and expanded their company
25 percent last year, from four Kriegers to five. The family
lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Gary works in the private
banking division of JP Morgan in Palm Beach while Tracie is
CEO of the very busy house and runs a small business teaching
Mommy-and-Me classes.
Hyokon
Zhiang left Bain in 2004 and has been doing innovation
consulting. This year, he shifted focus to innovation development
(or internal incubation). He is working on a few Web 2.0 businesses,
which you can find at innomovelab.com.
Chelsea
Smith had her third child, Channing Jewel, on Nov. 21.
She joins a sister, Kinsey Jade (2) and a brother, James Zachary
(4). She is still trading equities for Allstate Investments
and her husband, James Smith '98, works with Ariel Investments.
The kids keep them busy but they are having a blast.
Rick
and Diana Knapp have a new daughter, Allison, born
Nov. 20.
Matthew
Abbott and wife Sara welcomed their first child, Benjamin
Allen Abbott, on March 28 in Washington, D.C. Matt is already
training him to be a southpaw for the Boston Red Sox! Everyone
is healthy and doing well.
Craig
McGiffin and family
have moved to Fort Collins, Colo. Charlotte Emily McGiffin
was born on St. Patrick's Day 2007 during an ice storm in
New York City.
Alyson
Malone married Arthur Bagby on Sept. 30. She and her husband
are living in Birmingham, Ala., where she is president of
her family's foundation, The Malone Family Foundation.
Carlos
Botelho left Marathon Asset Management, a large multistrategy
hedge fund based in New York, to set up a global emerging
markets alternative asset manager, Cartica Capital (carticacapital.com).
His partners are a group of former colleagues from the International
Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), where he spent more
than six years after graduating from Kellogg. Carlos and wife
Elena are splitting their time between D.C. and New York,
and he's doing a lot of international travel.
Roy
Ibasco announced the birth of his daughter, Lara Nina
Ibasco. She was born in November 2007 in Hawaii. The family
lives in the Bay Area and looks forward to keeping in touch.
Dave
Parikh is doing well and recently moved back to India
to help start Virgin Mobile in India. After a few very hectic
months, they just launched in March. He is enjoying his gig
as chief officer of handsets, value-added services and procurement.
After several years in the U.S., India has been challenging,
vibrant, different, yet fun.
After
years of living in Wilmette and working for Wolters Kluwer,
a multinational publishing and information company, Jon
Teppo accepted a position in the company's office in the
Netherlands as vice president of business analysis. This year
has involved moving with wife Tami and three children Ben
(6), Sam (3) and Kate (1) to the "old south" neighborhood
of Amsterdam. They expect to be here for the next three years
and are really enjoying the change of pace and adventure.
They also hope to have many visitors.
Life
is good in Bellevue, Wash., for Henry Albrecht. William
(1) took his first steps, Josephine (4) started T-ball and
Alexander (7) was in a spelling bee. Henry and wife Chris
urge all of our Kellogg mates to holler when you pass through
Seattle, and to check out Limeade Employee Vitality at limeade.com.
Tom
and Carrie (Tower) Lott moved to Davidson, N.C.
from N.Y. last summer. Davidson is a town outside Charlotte.
Tom still works for the same fund, Gracie Capital, but mostly
works at home and commutes occasionally to the city. They
prefer small-town life, especially for their kids, Cassie
(3) and Emma (5). Big change for them but they are pretty
happy away from the rat race.
Anne
Imrie Hoffman is now a partner with Graphite Capital LLP,
a midmarket private equity firm in London and Achim Hoffman
is the founder of a clean tech startup in London. Ellen
(Cleaveland) Koebler is a managing director for SunTrust
Robinson Humphrey, a regional bank in Georgia and husband
Jeff is the managing partner with Seek Capital Partners, a
capital raising firm in Atlanta. Anne and Achim stopped in
for a visit with the Koeblers en route to vacation in Barbados
in May.
Erin
Lydon, her husband, Randi, and daughters Fiona (4) and
Buggy (1) have settled in windy South Dakota. Their plans
are to relocate to Boulder, Colo., in 2009 and settle somewhere
long-term to raise the kids among the "like-minded."
For now, Erin serves on the board of the Boys & Girls
Club and takes the girls running in the double stroller when
weather permits. Contact her at ely376@hotmail.com. |
