Marc Fienberg ‘97 directs Andy Griffith and Doris Roberts, who star in his movie “Play the Game.”

1997 — Full-Time

Brian Korn and friends and family celebrated his "big birthday" by heading to Las Vegas for a weekend of shows and dinners and general mayhem. It was great to see everyone and a large proportion of Kellogg alumni from several different decades were there.

J. Michael Locke is CEO of Rasmussen College Inc., which recently hired its 700th employee and now operates 14 campuses in five states serving over 9,000 students. Michael is looking for general managers experienced in running P&L centers and would love some Kellogg alums to join him in Chicago or in Minneapolis. Anyone interested should e-mail him at mlocke@rasmussen.edu.

Nico Ortiz's burgeoning restaurant empire will be expanding this summer with the opening of The Fat Squirrel Pub, an English/Irish inspired restaurant in Rio Rancho New Mexico, just down the road from the new Turtle Mountain Brewing Co. His real estate investments will also be forging ahead in 2009 with the purchase of the building housing The Fat Squirrel as well as the planned development of a 2.5-acre commercial tract of land in Rio Rancho owned by an investment group that also includes Brian and Sue Korn. Check out what he is doing at turtlemountainbrewing.com.

Brian James is now vice president worldwide marketing at Nimsoft in the Bay Area (and hiring) after jumping ship from software startup and competitor CITTIO in downtown San Francisco. His 12-minute Nimsoft commute and many staff beat his prior 1-hour commute and no staff hands down.

Marc Fienberg finally finished directing and producing his first feature film, "Play the Game." The film stars Andy Griffith, Doris Roberts, Paul Campbell and Marla Sokoloff and tells the story of a young ladies' man who teaches all his dating tricks to his lonely, widowed grandfather. Now all he has to do is sell the movie to a distributor, but once that happens, he promises a free bag of popcorn to any Kellogg alum who goes to see the film opening weekend. Marc's production company, Story Films, produces clever movies, television shows, commercials and online content and has already started raising money for its next feature film.

David Popler recently changed jobs and is now CEO of GoingOn Networks, a Web platform for business community management in San Francisco In February, David and his wife Beth (Northwestern '92) joined Brian and Sue (Gouws) Korn, for Brian's 40th birthday celebration in Las Vegas.

Nancy Joyce and Rene Jarquin are living in Wellesley, Mass., with their two sweet daughters Nora (4) and Julia (6 months). Rene is senior portfolio manager with BNY Mellon Financial in Boston, and Nancy is SVP of self-help solutions for a startup in Wellesley called El Dorado Marketing Group.
