EMP-60

Laissez les bon temps rouler! Hello from New Orleans. Yes, Eddie and I have made the move to the Big Easy. I think it is coincidental that I arranged our class trip to New Orleans and now, lo and behold I live here. We even bought a brand new home at English Turn where we had all golfed. I wonder if Krauskopf still owns his house here.

I have taken a transfer with Harrah's to be assistant general manager of our casino hotel in downtown New Orleans. I am in charge of the casino, hotel, food and beverage, facilities, security and services at the property. I have been out of operations for 10 years and thought it the perfect opportunity to get back in and run one of our largest businesses.

Thank you to Mike Rafi and Kevin Wilson for visiting with us while they were out in Vegas, and I really appreciate the advice and support they have given me toward making this move. We have been so fortunate to see many of you on your trips through Las Vegas and I hope that continues down south as well!

JoJo Chesney just missed us on her latest jaunt to Vegas, but wrote in that she is doing very well. She was able to purchase a fantastic Kentucky Derby hat, dress and shoes while in town. I am sure she and Vic tipped back some mint juleps with HRH the Queen.

Bob Herzog is doing well and continues to enjoy Pittsburgh. He was invaluable to me in resolving a little incident I had with Federal Express and a missing package. Professor Uzzi would be proud of our networking power in EMP-60.

I heard from David Duvall that he is still working hard in pharma and building his own business. He had reminded me that cash is king, and to enjoy a Bloody Mary or two to shake the cobwebs out.

Last time around, I was remiss in relaying the saga of a young man in conflict with a military aggressor. It was none other than Randy "R-Money" McCreary (no, he is no longer named Bagger because he did plan and come for a visit to see me) who put a smart aleck naval cadet in his place by force in a restaurant on the Chesapeake.

Alan Handley, who no-doubt spurred Randy on, reminded me of the story. Alan is well and has sold out phase one of his first residential land development project south of Madison. He has also sold 50 percent of phase two. Phase one was 10 home sites on 20-acre parcels, while phase two includes more than 20 home sites on 500 acres of land (including equestrian trails, open conservation areas and a common area for residents). He is also looking at another deal and enjoys reaping the rewards of his success and the distraction to his day-to-day job. He recently had lunch with Rich Rusnack who is also doing very well.

PA "Swedish Lightning" Wendin shared some exciting news with all of us in April that he and Kris Intress EMP-61 have bought a company called InnLink in Nashville, Tenn. It is a hotel reservations company with a 24-hour-call center that services 1,200 hotels throughout the United States. He told us that he loves it and is having fun infusing energy and new ideas into a mid-sized sleepy business. He also is enjoying the switch from consultant to CEO. PA and Kris are staying in Chicago (I think they just built a new home in Evanston) and commuting each week to Nashville.

Too bad Stu Abelson and his wife left Chicago to move to Massachusetts or they could have helped them with the air commute. They wrote to say the have moved into Glouster, Mass.

I was so happy to get a picture of Alfonso Parra and his gorgeous twin boys, Lucas and Mario. He said they are growing so big and crawling all over the place. He has transitioned out of strategy consulting (avoids weekly travel away from home) and into global market management within IBM's software group. He is still based in Dallas.

Keep in touch, miss you all and hope to see you soon!
