EMP-56

Hello, EMP-56! Summer is upon us and with the last update in Kellogg World, we've got lots of news on what has been hot and happening. Thanks for all of your input and words of encouragement to keep the news rolling! As we all know, a lot can change in just a few months and this has been true for our class:

Mike Dvorak, who took a position with Indianapolis Power and Light following graduation, is now the director of marketing and strategic customer relations there. The family is doing very well in Indiana, with Maureen managing the local school cafeteria and two graduations to celebrate this year. Their oldest son Mitch just graduated from Purdue (one son is still attending there) and their daughter is headed for Indiana University this fall.

John Meier is on the move within Lyondell, now focused on managing relationships with their key accounts around the nation. The good news for all of us is that this means there's a possibility that we all might get to see more of John as he is traveling around the country. Be on the lookout for his travel schedule soon!

Melissa Fabio and her family are relocating to London, England. Yes, another EMP-56er is going global. Her husband, Malcolm, is taking an assignment to support McDonald's Europe and they plan to make the move in July.

Dan Masterson's new company, EMD, continues to grow fast, with a number of projects for large clients (we would recognize the national brands) in the works. No surprise that innovative thinking is hard at work and the company already has 24 patents pending with more to come! EMD is continuing to partner with "executional cultured" companies to bring new products to market. Look for their new Web site to launch this summer.

Gerry Carter has been stacking up the frequent flier miles with something of a world tour (work and pleasure). He recently spent two weeks exploring the Black Sea/Mediterranean, Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Cyprus, Turkey and Egypt. Gerry has also been traveling to China and Europe for business.

Dave Sulfridge has taken a new position at The Warranty Group, a spin-off from Aon that was sold to Onex in 2006. As a stand-alone company, The Warranty Group is the largest independent source of extended warranties (auto, land, marine, appliance, computers and electronics) in the world with more than 2,000 employees and operations in 33 countries. Dave will be working in the resource automotive division and will focus on growth strategies and business development for resource training and consulting.

Greg Macfarlane has left GE after a very successful career there and is now the CFO for Ceridian, a Fortune 1000 company based in Minneapolis that focuses on data processing and human resources.

Matt DesRosiers, has taken a role managing a radiology group in Mt. Vernon, Wash., (60 miles north of Seattle). The family is staying in Wilmette, Ill., and Matt will be traveling back on most weekends. Sounds like his place in Washington is amazing and maybe it's time for a class trip to the West Coast!

Congratulations to EMP-56's movers and shakers! Keep the good work and news coming and have a fabulous summer!
