2001
— Full-Time
Hi
Class of 2001! Not too many updates this time, but I'm hopeful
that a summer full of vacations will bring lots of news in
the fall. Have a great summer (or winter, if you're somewhere
in the southern hemisphere).
Piedad
Cuevas and Mauricio Estrada were married on March 24.
They met on a hiking trip with a group of alumni from college.
They had a beautiful wedding ceremony outdoors followed by
a reception in Bogota. The wedding was very enthusiastic and
the couple and their guests danced and had a lot of fun. They
spent their honeymoon in a heavenly island in the Colombian
Caribbean and then in Cartagena.
Sara
and Jeffere Ferris welcomed Winston Harper Ferris on Halloween. Early
visitors included Sally Burns. Jeffere writes, "We're back in Indian Wells, Calif., where Winston
has brought down the average age, considerably. Sara launched
a hospitality marketing consultancy, and I am in IBM's corporate
strategy consulting group, specializing in energy and utilities,
as well as media and entertainment."
Alex
Goldman and his family have decided that after being away
from the Boston area for eight years (which started in 1999
with the trek to Evanston!), it was time to move back. He
and his wife, Linsey, wanted their twins, Benjamin and Marah
(2), to be closer to relatives so they would know their "Gram
and Papa," among others. Alex will remain in his role
with Travelocity as director of car product marketing and
strategy, working remotely. He is looking forward to reconnecting
with classmates in the Northeast.
Andrew
Malkin wrote in with lots of news: "After nearly
three years in Nashville, Tenn., Ellery and I are moving again,
this time back to Fairfield County, Conn., so that I can return
to trade-book publishing and we can be closer to both of our
families. I started this February as vice president of trade-book
sales at Rodale with domestic/international/digital/special
markets sales responsibilities. Ellery is leaving her senior
marketing role at Healthways, where she worked on new product
development, and will be looking for something new in the
Connecticut area while helping our daughter, Channing (2),
adjust to the northern climate and culture. On a separate
note, I was over in London twice recently and had dinner and
pints at a South Kensington gastropub with classmates Loong
Chen and Jarrod Schlesinger. Last month, I linked
up with Will Cornelissen and his fiancee, Eleanor,
for a sunny afternoon around Hyde Park."
In
May, Mike Skurka began a new position with UBS Global
Asset Management in Chicago as a director in their product
management group.
